Skal at least has some projectability. Early into his college career, he was considered a likely lottery pick. He just hasn't put it together. Not saying he'll put it all together in Portland. Just that he has much more upside than Caleb and he's still really, really young.
I think it would be the go to move if you want to pick up a roster spot for another bought out guy like Kanter
The only thing I like about this trade is that Skal is a UK guy. Upgrading the end of the bench is actually bad imo since it’s gonna take min from guys like Jake and Zach who we desperately need to develop if we ever plan on being more than first round fodder.
How come? WB4/Nick were maybe the best of the 3 traded and they were #9 or so on the rotation list - if Hood goes to the starting line and we move Harkless / Layman to the bench - this is in theory an upgrade to the bench.
I was implying we may have upgraded the starting lineup...with say, Jake and Hood sending Mo and Chief to the bench..Rodney at the 3 and Jake at the 4..having Mo and Chief with the second unit is also a big upgrade for the bench...I think Curry and Collins get their minutes slashed
nah....just a few months ago almost everyone around here said Jake didn't belong in the NBA....Stotts is playing him
I understand that - but you used "downgraded" which does not work logically here. We upgraded our bench by potentially moving one starter there - because we have a potentially better replacement starter. The "downgraded" thing there made it a convoluted sentence - I understand what you tried to do - but maybe you were trying to be too cute in this case.
Nah, the only pills I'm currently taking are to stop the acid in my stomach from burning a hole in my esophogus
