    Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle

(On Luka Doncic’s performance in the fouth)

“Yeah, Luka [Doncic] was great in the fourth. Not only did he score and make plays, but he had a lot of big rebounds down the stretch. I don’t normally play him the whole quarter, but when we began to make the push early in the fourth it was just one of those times where he was going to have to finish for us to have a chance. He did a great job. I thought [Tim] Hardaway Jr. had his best game. He is starting to feel his way here and how he is going to fit in. He was aggressive, smart, and he hit big buckets all night long.”

(On the defensive effort down the stretch)

“Well, it was probably our best quarter of the year if you just take into consideration the entire situation. We were down pretty significantly heading into the fourth. They are a great finishing team with their guards and their play-making, and to go 24-9 is a great effort defensively. Finishing with some size helped us. [Dorian] Finney-Smith made it a little tougher on [Damian] Lillard with his size…we were able to make enough plays to get there. It was an exciting game. There were certainly some ugly stretches early and in the middle. They can make you look bad with their skilled guys, especially Lillard. When it gets like it was with him in the third quarter, it’s just tough, but our guys didn’t get down. They kept slugging and fighting and that was great to see.”

(On the risk of putting Dorian Finney-Smith on a guard like Damian Lillard)

“I don’t know what you mean by risk. It’s just a move that you hope to be able to make with a guy like Finney-Smith. I think it’s a difficult ask to have a guy like that guard him the entire game. In this case we went to it late. We had [Courtney] Lee on him and Lee was in great position, but he hit a few tough shots on Lee, and he’s an experienced defender. He’s a little bigger than our point guards, but Lillard is a great player. He’s s an all-star, and one of these years he will be a top MVP candidate, he’s that good. He’s going to have some stretches like that, but as a team we did a great job in the last six minutes to get the win.”

    Mavericks Guard Luka Doncic

(On his thoughts in the final minutes of the game)

“I think Maxi [Kleber] had some really big plays on defense. I should have made those two shots down the stretch, which I’m not happy about, but I’m glad we got the win.”

(On his thoughts about Tim Hardaway Jr.)

“He’s a great guy and a great shooter. He can do a lot of things, so he helped us a lot, not just on the attack, but also on defense.

    (On his rebounding responsibilities)

“I have picked up on my rebounding. We have Maxi [Kleber] as our four. We have our big lineups, but we box out and we get the rebounds. It’s great.”

(On the Slovenian fans’ presence tonight)

“It’s a special feeling. Everybody from my hometown is pretty far away, so when they come to see me and support me, it is very special.”

Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts

    (On tonight’s loss)

“I didn’t think our defense was where it needed to be in the first and third quarters. Obviously, offensively, we struggled in the fourth. Some missed opportunities, some turnovers, some poor decisions, and you have got to give credit to Dallas. They play with a lot of energy. They never quit. They stayed in it. [Luka] Doncic was great in the fourth quarter. They deserved to win.”

    (On the fourth quarter)

“We were getting good looks. I thought Damian [Lillard] had a good look at a three; CJ [McCollum] had a couple. You know, that is going to happen. Dame was obviously on a roll in the third quarter. That is just a part of basketball.”

(On if he should have put Damian Lillard in sooner in the third quarter)

“It is what it is. There was still enough time when he came back in, we still lost. That’s part of it.”

    (On the last play)

“Dame took it aggressively to the basket. They made a good defensive play.”

    Trail Blazers Guard Damian Lillard

(On the final play of the game)

“On the last play I got fouled two times. I went behind the back and he reached across my body and pulled my right shoulder with his left arm. He didn’t call that, and then the foul that Zach [Collins] been getting called for all night. The dude jumped forward right into us. It’s the same call but like I said, it should have never come to that. When you score nine points in the fourth quarter, you’re going to have a hard time winning the game.”

    (On Portland’s fourth quarter)

“It shouldn’t have come down to that, period.”

    (On making in-game adjustments)

“I was just watching the game and we had a lead then lost it. I don’t know why. I wasn’t looking at it like ‘we should be doing this’, or ‘we should be doing that’. They started to gain momentum. That was it. You play with fire and you see the result of that.”

    (On the remaining road schedule)

“I wouldn’t even say it was a test. It was a message. They are a team that is below .500 right now, but they just had a trade. They’ve got all new guys and things like that. It’s a game we should be able to win. We had a double digit lead. It’s a game we should be able to win and we lost this one. Tomorrow we’ve got to play against OKC, and we are going to be up against maybe tougher matchups. If we let one like this get away, that should send a message to us.”

Looks like Dame saw the last play exactly how I did.

I don't get why that would be on Stotts at all.

You’re a pretty knowledgeable basketball guy (at least you play one here most of the time), I have a hard time believing you havent heard of any of the Mavericks starters...
