Then it's a testament to our suckiness that we haven't came back from a start of 4th deficit.

We were 3rd last year......and haven't won a single playoff game since May of 2016. What's the point?

It's a testament to our mediocrity that we don't have one single solitary comeback for the entire year. Balance my friend.

well, if the Blazers lose the next 2 games before the all-star break they could be in 7th place in the WC..."greatness!"

At the end? That is very debatable. I would prefer he not give Carlisle a chance to set up his defense. (or steal the inbound pass)

His defense was already pretty much set on the rebound. Stotts should've realized that.

Just wondering if there will be a loss this season that someone does not bring that up. Irrelevant.

Not exactly sure how anyone can blame that loss on Stotts but it seems to be the common response on any loss.
8 Players missed 10 shots in the last quarter.
We are talking wide open looks for 3 from Dame, Hood and Layman. If one of those falls this game is a W
Then CJ also missed a floater and Curry missed a gimme 8 footer
Meyers misses not one but 2 Free throws and Harkless misses one.
Nurk misses 2 easy layups that roll around the rim.
Turner missed a signature jump shot from close.
Collins missed a simple put back.
I think i have missed one from Dame also with about three mins left and at the buzzer.
Not only was the team missing shots they were missing shots that they have made all season long in that instance. It was bound to happen. They didn't even play bad defense. They actually held that team well enough that if they even went for a measly 20 points in the fourth this game is never in question.
Shots didn't fall. Sorry but in this game that is what happened.
And don't start saying Stotts should have run better plays or called more diverse offensive sets. The very fact that 8 players were taking shots just blows that whole theory out of the water.
The Blazers blew a game on the road. It happens every year to every team in the league. Regroup and go play another game tomorrow. Be in a position to win at the end and make some shots. Simple Basketball.

The Mavericks missed great shots too, but yes, both the players and Stotts are at fault for this one.

Yep. This was a total team loss. Stotts absolutely should be included in that for sure.

CJ on Dame's final play: "I thought he should have pulled up. Refs never call that at the end of the game, even if it's a foul on Zach every time. I thought he should have stopped and popped."

    Agreed.

Dame went NUCLEAR for the last 5:19 of the 3rd quarter going 7-9 and at one point, scoring 19 of 21 Blazer points. That was unbelievable....but is was this.

For the entire rest of the game, Dame/CJ were a combined 9-31. That is a minuscule .290 from the field. 29% on 31 shots. In another 31 shots, Nurk was 9-11, Layman 4-7, (tied for the least amount of shots he had in the last 11 games) Collins 3-3, Meyers 1-1, Hood 3-7....and we're still not to 31 shots combined yet.

To put it in another perspective, that 31 shots represents 36% of the entire shots taken by the team for the whole game. So for getting close to 40% of the game. the Blazers as a 'team' shot 29% because two players who were Brick City cold, wouldn't stop chucking and the coach wouldn't hold them accountable.

How is it Stotts can allow that kid of bricklaying when guys aren't making shots? When they are hot....feed them. But when they are AFA from 30' ice-cold, why not get shots for guys WHO ARE ACTUALLY MAKING THEM? If Stotts has that little of control (or coaching acumen), why are we forced to put up with this year after year?

One of the nicest guys you will ever meet, but there are too many examples of this every season.
