This thread is really simple, post your opinions on what the Heat should do this off-season. Here is what I think:1. Re-sign James PoseyI think Jason Kapono will want too much money after the great season he had and will test the Free Agent market where some team desperate for a sharp-shooter will give him a big deal so signing James Posey will make a big difference in the success of this team next year. His defense and outside shooting are a big part of this team's success since Wade needs someone to pass to when he drives and Posey is almost always there.2. Draft a PGThe playoffs made it obvious that Jason Williams and Gary Payton are not getting it done for us at PG. A guy like Acie law or Javaris Crittenton would be ideal for this team, with a bunch of declining veterans at PG, some freash blood would be just what we needed. I hope they dont expect Chris Quinn to be the future at PG. 3. Make Some TradesI'm hoping we can get rid of Antoine Walker this off-season, he is really useless to us now since except for a few games a year, all he does is chuck up shots from long-distance and miss terribly. His contract is a killer and hopefully some team is willing to take him. (Come on Knicks)4. Sign a decent Big Man with MLEShaq seems to get injured every year for long periods of time and when he does, we have no big men on the bench. Everytime Shaq gets injured, the Heat are stuck playing Haslem at C or actually playing Doleac which is never good. If we can sign a decent big man with our MLE, he can back-up Haslem during the season and when Shaq gets injured, help carry some of the load. I dont know who would be willing to sign with a team that has Haslem, Walker, Zo, and Shaq in the frontcourt but with the age and injuries of these guys, it is worth trying to sign someone. What do you guys think the Heat should do this off-season?

I definitely agree with you on most of these points. About James Posey though, even though he didn't play that consistent last year due to the continuous rotation at F with Posey, Walker, Kapono and Wright, I definitely feel that he'll be a great asset to Miami down the line. He is definitely a great defender but he needs to be more confident and be able to knock down the big shots when Wade and the rest of the guys are depending on him to make them. Also, J-Will and Walker could be traded. We really need a new point guard and a backup center (either through the draft or a trade). Shaq keeps getting older and older as the years go on and he keeps getting injured every season. We need a more reliable backup center than Michael Doleac. No offense to him but I doubt that he can get the job done. Zo is a good backup but we can't keep relying on him to stay if he really wants to retire...On another note, if Wright and Haslem don't get traded, I see them becoming stars if not the main supporting cast for Wade and Shaq. If Barron and Simien could get more playing time, I'm sure that they would be able to develop themselves and the game more but until then, they haven't really contributed much to the Heat. Quinn is ok as a backup point guard but we really can't depend on him as a long-term starter.

Good News:With the Magic signing Stan Van Gundy, the Heat recieved a 2007 2nd (44 overall) and the right to switch 1st round picks in 2008. My question is what should we do with that pick? Guys like Staphane Lasme, Nick Fazekas, Aaron Gray, Taurean Green, and Bobby Brown that play the positions we need will be there around this time. Hopefully we can get Javaris Crittenton at 20 in the first and grab Aaron Gray in the 2nd. That would be an amazing draft for the Heat but I doubt that will happen. Who do you fellow Heat fans (bballinyao) think we take here?

The Heat really need to puruse Artest. He would give them a nice lift. He's one of the better all-around players in the NBA, and Wade and Shaq could keep him in line. You could also try a sign and trade for Rashard Lewis. He'd be another scoring option, which the Heat don't really have one past Wade and Shaq. To pull in any of those players the Heat would probably have to package Haslem and Wright plus a pick maybe. Those are just some ideas.

We might as well kepp what we have, shop around some of our veterans and try to rebuild around Wade. I would love to see Artest here but even if we do bring him in, I dont see us winning another title so it would be pointless.

If I were the Heat, I would try to package off J-Will and Walker and see what kind of youth you can get for them. I'd move Wade to PG, because he is basically the playmaker for the Heat as it is, and is a great passer. Then I would draft the best PG avaliable to backup Wade and develop behind him. Then, moving Wade to PG would allow Wright to get more minutes to develop his skills to see what kind of player he can be. This would make the Heat a rebuilding team, but they would still be very competitive.
