Harris' 34 leads No. 19 Buffalo to 110-80 win over Toledo

Coach Nate Oats put together a challenging non-conference schedule in order to toughen up Buffalo for the start of the regular season.

    It's showing.

After spending the past two months knocking off the likes of West Virginia, Syracuse and San Francisco, the No. 19 Bulls have begun rolling over their Mid-American Conference opponents.

Jeremy Harris scored a career-best 34 points in leading Buffalo (14-1, 2-0 MAC) to a 110-80 rout of Toledo on Tuesday night. It marked the second time this season the Bulls have scored 110, following a 110-71 win over Dartmouth on Nov. 21.

Harris leads No. 19 Buffalo in 88-64 win over Miami (Ohio)

With Jeremy Harris and the rest of Buffalo's offense misfiring, the senior guard took comfort in knowing the Bulls could still rely on their defense.

"I think that's the reason why we're so good, is because we've got so many good players that can break out any given night," Harris said. "It's fun playing with these guys. We're all unselfish."

Harris scored 17 points and No. 19 Buffalo shook off a cold-shooting start to cruise past Miami (Ohio) 88-64 on Saturday.

No. 16 Buffalo holds off upset-minded WMU 88-79

Buffalo was finally challenged in conference play -- and coach Nate Oats wasn't thrilled with how his team handled it.

Jeremy Harris had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and the 16th-ranked Bulls held off upset-minded Western Michigan 88-79 on Tuesday night, but this game was close throughout after Buffalo won its first three Mid-American Conference games by a combined 70 points.

Buzzer-beating layup lifts N. Illinois past No. 14 Buffalo

Northern Illinois caught Buffalo flat-footed just before the buzzer.

Reserve Noah McCarty got open in the paint, caught a pass and hit a layup with 2 seconds to play, and the Huskies upset the 14th-ranked Bulls 77-75 on Tuesday night. It was Northern Illinois' first home victory over a ranked team in 47 years.

No. 18 Buffalo cruises past Ball State for 83-59 win

Coach Nate Oats could overlook Buffalo's cold-shooting offense given how his team's defense smothered Ball State from nearly start to finish.

Defensive specialist Dontay Caruthers scored 21 points and No. 18 Buffalo cruised to its 21st straight home victory, 83-59 over Ball State on Tuesday night.

Bowling Green rallies past No. 18 Buffalo 92-88

With a raucous home crowd poised to celebrate, Bowling Green needed to withstand one more 3-pointer by Buffalo star CJ Massinburg.

The shot bounced off the rim, and the Falcons closed out their upset.

"You make some, you miss some," Massinburg said.

Massinburg didn't miss many, scoring 19 of his 26 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough for No. 18 Buffalo. The Bulls wasted an eight-point halftime lead and lost 92-88 to Bowling Green on Friday night.

No. 23 Buffalo tops Central Mich. for 22nd straight home win

Battling through injuries and playing without one of its best players for a half, No. 23 Buffalo was resilient and rallied for its 22nd straight win at home.

Jeremy Harris had 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and the Bulls overcame an 18-point first half deficit, their largest of the season, to beat Central Michigan 90-76 on Saturday.

Massinburg's 18 helps No. 25 Buffalo hold off Akron 76-70

Buffalo's run of conference championships, 20-win seasons and a major upset in last year's NCAA Tournament have brought rankings, publicity and high expectations.

Right now, the Bulls aren't meeting them.

CJ Massinburg scored 21 points, Dontay Caruthers added 15 and No. 25 Buffalo slogged its way to a 76-70 win over Akron on Tuesday night, dropping the Zips to 0-31 against ranked teams.

No. 25 Buffalo shakes off poor start, beats Toledo 88-82

Buffalo is still in a bit of a 3-point shooting funk -- except for Nick Perkins, who lifted the Bulls to an impressive victory in a Mid-American Conference showdown with Toledo.

Perkins matched his career high with 26 points -- hitting four 3-pointers in the second half -- to help No. 25 Buffalo beat Toledo 88-82 on Friday night. The Bulls went 0 for 9 from beyond the arc in the first half and finished 7 for 21, but the 6-foot-8 Perkins looked confident from long distance, even though he's not the most prolific perimeter shooter.

No. 25 Buffalo stampedes Ohio for 23rd straight home win

Buffalo coach Nate Oats drew on his experience as a high school math teacher help his team understand the value of a blowout victory.

After grinding out two wins on what Oats said was the team's biggest road trip of the season, the Bulls were disappointed to see that they remained at No. 25 in the poll.

"If we want to make a run in March, we can't keep messing around and playing teams to within single digits when we are supposed to dominate them," Oats said.

Buffalo responded to the challenge with its most dominant performance of the season on Tuesday night, overwhelming Ohio in a 114-67 rout for their 23rd straight home win.

Perkins leads No. 25 Buffalo to 80-57 win over Kent State

Having played Buffalo toe-to-toe in Kent State's last meeting, coach Rob Senderoff was feeling good about the Golden Flashes holding the lead with two minutes left in the first half.

It took 75 seconds for the Bulls to dash any of Senderoff's upset expectations.

Nick Perkins scored eight of his career-high 27 points, and No. 25 Buffalo fed off the electrifying 10-0 run in rolling to an 80-57 victory on Friday night.

Massinburg leads No. 21 Buffalo to 77-64 win over Akron

It's been so long, senior guard CJ Massinburg can't remember the last time Buffalo lost at home.

"No," he said, putting his hand to his forehead.

Massinburg and the senior-laden Bulls would prefer to keep it that way after rallying No. 21 Buffalo over Akron 77-64 on Tuesday night for its 25th straight home victory.

No. 19 Buffalo captures MAC title with 82-79 win over Ohio

After Buffalo bombed Ohio with 3-pointers last month, the No. 19 Bulls seemed ready for a repeat.

Buffalo hit eight of its first 11 3-point attempts, but Ohio wouldn't go quietly this time. The Bulls led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but the game came down to the final possession with a desperation shot by Ohio's Gavin Block sailing off the mark as time ran out.

Buffalo's 82-79 win on Tuesday night locked up the Mid-American Conference regular-season title and a top seed in the conference tournament.

No. 19 Buffalo beats Bowling Green in regular-season finale

Nick Perkins recalled arriving at Buffalo as what he referred to as "a little fat kid."

Four years later in his final home game, the senior showed off how far he's come in developing into one of the Mid-American Conference's top power forwards.

With the No. 19 Bulls clinging to a one-point lead over Bowling Green midway through the second half, Perkins used his 6-foot-8, 250-pound chiseled frame to dominate in the paint by scoring seven points during a 14-5 run to key an 84-73 victory Friday night.

No. 18 Bulls bowl over Akron in MAC quarterfinals

Jeremy Harris touched the blue construction worker's hard hat sitting before him on the dais and smiled.

    He earned it.

"I'm going to sleep with it tonight," he said.

Buffalo wouldn't mind if he kept it for another month.

Harris, who recently emerged from a puzzling shooting slump, scored 23 points and Dontay Caruthers added 12 as No. 18 Buffalo impressively opened the postseason with an 82-46 win over Akron in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday.

No. 18 Buffalo rallies past Central Michigan into MAC final

Buffalo's hopes for another MAC championship were dangling, and as coach Nate Oats huddled his team during a timeout in the fourth quarter he made a request.

"I told them, `We gotta find a way to win this game,' " Oats said.

C.J. Massinburg showed the way. Always does.

The MAC's Player of the Year dropped a spinning layup, made four free throws in the final 32 seconds, and scored his team's final nine points as the No. 18 Bulls rallied in the second half for an 85-81 win over Central Michigan in the Mid-American Conference semifinals on Friday night.

Buffalo wins fourth MAC title in 5 years

Not a coaching change. Not new players. Not any MAC team has been able to slow this historic run.

Buffalo is far and away the class of its conference, the standard bearer, the team raising the bar and maybe one capable of making more noise in the NCAA Tournament.

    Raging Bulls.

Jeremy Harris scored 31 points, C.J. Massinburg added 17 and No. 18 Buffalo won its fourth Mid-American Conference title in five years -- and further stamped itself as a team capable of doing major damage in March -- by beating Bowling Green 87-73 on Saturday night.
