No. 5 Tennessee wins 58-46 as Vandy loses 14th straight

Tennessee's offense was bad. Vanderbilt's was worse.

On a night when both teams posted their lowest point totals of the season, No. 5 Tennessee outlasted Vanderbilt 58-46 on Tuesday in the Volunteers' first game since losing their No. 1 ranking.

No. 4 Kentucky beats Missouri 66-58

Three days after knocking off the nation's top-ranked team, Kentucky coach John Calipari just wanted to get out of Missouri with a victory over the struggling Tigers, regardless of how it looked.

The fourth-ranked Wildcats accomplished the victory, beating the Tigers 66-58, but getting out of town proved more difficult.

Allen scores 21, Florida downs No. 13 LSU, 82-77

When Florida's Kevaughn Allen pulled up for an open 3 early in the second half at LSU, he'd been limited to just three shots and had not scored a point.

Allen's fourth shot went down -- a moment LSU coach Will Wade called "the biggest play of the game."

"He saw the first one go in and it was over from there," Wade said.

Allen scored 12 of his 21 points in overtime, highlighted by a pair of 3s late in the extra period, and Florida beat No. 13 LSU 82-77 on Wednesday night.

LSU pushes past Tennessee in OT after last-second foul call

Javonte Smart waved both arms upward as he turned to the frenzied crowd inside the packed Peter Maravich Assembly Center, pounded his chest and hollered triumphantly.

It was as if the freshman, who grew up near Baton Rouge, knew he'd make the free throws LSU needed to close out an emotional victory -- and realize a scene from his childhood dreams.

Smart capped a career-best 29-point performance with a crucial rebound and go-ahead free throws in the final seconds, and No. 13 LSU outlasted fifth-ranked Tennessee 82-80 in overtime on Saturday.

John Calipari moves into 2nd on Kentucky all-time wins list after beating Auburn

John Calipari was satisfied being in third place as Kentucky's all-time winningest coach.

"No one should go by [Joe B Hall], so coach Hall just asked me to vacate any games that go by him," Calipari said. "I said they have already vacated some of my games. Maybe we'll just vacate some more and at the end of the day I'll be one less than him."

Calipari surpassed Hall on the school's career wins list and is second behind Adolph Rupp after an 80-53 victory over Auburn on Saturday.

Calipari is 298-68 in 10 seasons with the Wildcats. Hall compiled a 297-100 record in 13 seasons and led the Wildcats to a national championship in 1978.

Herro's 29 points rally No. 4 Kentucky past Arkansas 70-66

Tyler Herro couldn't miss in the second half, and he didn't have much margin for error as he helped bail out No. 4 Kentucky against Arkansas.

Herro had career highs of five 3-pointers and 29 points, including two free throws with five seconds remaining, and Kentucky rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Arkansas 70-66 on Tuesday night.

Reid, Smart lead No. 13 LSU over Texas A&M 66-55

Naz Reid's path to redemption began straight down the middle of the lane for a two-handed, rim-rattling dunk.

Reid bounced back from his least productive game this season by scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and No. 13 LSU comfortably defeated Texas A&M 66-55 on Tuesday night.

Williams' bucket lifts No. 7 Tennessee over Ole Miss 73-71

Grant Williams barreled through the lane through two Mississippi defenders, somehow willing himself into a position where he could get a short jumper to fall for the go-ahead bucket with four seconds remaining.

Nothing's coming easy for No. 7 Tennessee these days. But the Volunteers will take wins however they can.

Williams scored 21 points, including his clutch basket in the final seconds, to lift Tennessee over Ole Miss 73-71 on Wednesday night. The win keeps the Volunteers in a three-way tie with LSU and Kentucky atop the Southeastern Conference standings.

Bone's big game helps No. 7 Vols beat No. 4 Kentucky 71-52

Tennessee didn't like the way it got pushed around at Kentucky two weeks ago. The Volunteers pushed back in the rematch and delivered a knockout blow.

Jordan Bone scored a career-high 27 points and No. 7 Tennessee beat No. 4 Kentucky 71-52 on Saturday to maintain its home-court dominance. The decisive win came two weeks after the Vols fell 86-69 at Kentucky, a loss that snapped a school-record 19-game winning streak and dropped Tennessee out of the No. 1 ranking.

Mays, Smart lead No. 13 LSU past Alabama 74-69

Tremont Waters swiped a pass and raced toward the basket. Instead of settling for an uncontested layup, LSU's star guard bounced the ball off the glass and a trailing Skylar Mays plucked it from the air for a dunk.

Mays scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half, including that late slam, and Javonte Smart had 19 to lead No. 13 LSU to a 74-69 victory over Alabama on Saturday.

No. 6 Kentucky earns hard-fought 80-76 win over Mississippi

PJ Washington is in the discussion for Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, but he was a missing man during the first half Tuesday night, banished to the bench by early foul trouble.

At halftime, Kentucky coach John Calipari had a message for him: Get ready, because the ball's coming to you.

Washington responded with all 13 of his points in the second half to help No. 6 Kentucky earn a hard-fought 80-76 victory over Mississippi. The 6-foot-8 sophomore shot 6 of 10 from the field after the break, converting several big buckets to hold off the Rebels.

No. 10 LSU stays hot, beats Florida 79-78 in OT in rematch

Getting to overtime was the tough part for LSU.

Winning in the extra frame? That's pretty much what the Tigers have done all season.

Tremont Waters dribbled the length of the court for the tying basket with 3 seconds remaining in regulation and hit a 3-pointer early in overtime, helping No. 10 LSU escape Florida with a 79-78 victory Wednesday night.

No. 6 Kentucky pulls away from Florida 66-57 in SEC finale

Free throws seemed destined to be the saving grace for No. 6 Kentucky before it finally strung baskets together.

Tyler Herro made his share of both, and that combination was important in putting away Florida.

Herro scored 16 points and led a big second-half run that helped the Wildcats overcome the Gators 66-57 on Saturday.

Amid protest and cheers, LSU beats Vandy to claim SEC title

Emmitt Williams pulled on a purple T-shirt commemorating LSU's Southeastern Conference title, hopped over a media table along the baseline and joined several teammates climbing into a raucous and jubilant student section.

It was one of the happier moments in a packed and emotionally charged arena where fans alternated between celebrating the No. 10 Tigers' potentially tainted triumph and protesting the suspension of Will Wade, who coached LSU back to prominence, only to be banned from a home finale that ended with a celebratory net-cutting ceremony.

Tremont Waters had 14 points and eight assists, and LSU clinched its first regular-season SEC title in a decade with an 80-59 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday night in the Tigers' first game without Wade.

Auburn guard Bryce Brown had to wait until his senior season to experience a victory at the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Now he and his teammates want more.

Brown scored all 17 of his points in the second half, and No. 22 Auburn beat Missouri 81-71 Thursday in the second round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
