?

Would you rather have the 6th/7th Seed than the 5th, since it means we won't face GS in the 2nd Rd?

Poll closed Mar 17, 2019.
  1. Yes

    2.6%
  2. Yes, but I still want POR to try to win as many games as they can towards the best seed possible

    36.8%
  3. No, but I wouldn't be too disappointed to get the 6th or 7th seed instead of the 5th.

    2.6%
  4. No, I'd rather have 5th seed, so POR can have possible HCA against the 6-8th seeds in later rounds

    10.5%
  5. No, if POR is in the bottom half of Playoff seeding, it doesn't make much of a difference where, 5-8

    23.7%
  6. No, bring on the Warriors! The Blazers got nothing to fear.

Let's try it this way. You're a sharp guy when it comes to the CBA and contracts. Can you tell me what the max contract each of the players listed below would be allowed by the cba.

Player A: 5th year player drafted 5th, and met all the goals for a Derrick Rose rule contract.

Player B: 5th year player drafted 6th and doesn't meet the Rose rule.

Player C: drafted 31st and signed a 2 year contract for 5 mil first year with max raise for 2nd year.

Just a rough amount is good.

Cup, I told you already that both sides are right. Your exercise really doesn't do anything to prove one side of the story or the other.

    Take these two statements:
Dame is on a max contract.

Dame took less than than amount beyond the max that he qualified for.

Both statements are indeed factually correct. So for the 4th time it is indeed semantics whether he is on a max contract or not.

Well, we will have to disagree. You think a player can have multiple max amounts while i see only one max amount for every player.

No, i am saying it's impossible to be ELIGIBLE for 2 different max contracts. In other words i am saying you're incorrect. rotflmao

It kind of sounds like he did but he declined the part about if he became eligible for the 30% max he wouldnt take it? So if Im reading that right he got the Max he could get for part of the contract, but now he’s not getting what he technically could get?

Okay, you couldn't just accept the fact it depends on your perspective. So now I'm forced to drop a Meyers Leonard hammer on your post:

Dame signed his extension in 2015, after his 3rd season. At the time he signed it it was for the max. Here is the key part, HE WASN'T EVEN ELIGIBLE YET FOR MORE THAN THE MAX AT THE TIME OF THE SIGNING. It was only when he made an All-NBA team that following season that he became eligible to get MORE than the max.

So he did indeed sign a max contract. He does indeed play on a max contract. What you are referring to is beyond a max contract which is referred to as a super max. When he qualified for the extra 5% he chose that summer to only take 2.5% to maximize cap space.

    Max contract, yes.

    Full super max, no.

    Mic drop.

That's because at the time he didn't know if he would be eligible for 30% but agreed to take only 25% ( another site says 27.5%). He could of had the contract written to take the max though. Now if he didn't meet the Rose rule then i would agree at 25%, he was a max contract.

pick the mic back up. It was prematurely tossed. Lillard had the option to write into the contract that he would only accept the max amount he was eligible for but he agreed not to take the max if it was 30%. In other words, less than he could have. Also Lillard could only sign the extension after his 3rd year, not his second. Ooops.

Ok, time to excuse myself from this Have a nice night.
