That was great, but also incredibly awkward. I get the feeling that Nurk would be more comfortable being interviewed in a setting where he's sitting down and relaxed with a reporter who is likewise chill, and not trying to play games with a guy in a suit.
Man I hope this doesnt sound racist, but I think Nurk also struggles with English a bit. I think his English has gotten better though.
That's not racist at all. And it's true. No surprise, since he didn't even begin to learn English until he was drafted (or around the time he was drafted). To my knowledge, anyways.
You guys’ comments made me think Nurk must have struggled with this interview. I thought he did fine. God I love Nurk. After all the failed drafts and unexpected busts like Oden, we finally lucked into a superstar who is a great person, a great teammate, and who loves Portland to boot.
Nurk does the same thing when he is interviewed after a game sometimes. Definitely working on English. But in the end this is a good thing. Glad he got some exposure.
I thought he did ok, but there were a few questions he seemed to not understand and a few times I wasn't sure he answered the question. Hey, I speak English and that's it so I wasn't trying to be hard on him, he’s definitely getting better and working at it.
