With the efficiency that Seth has shown on his shot he’s going to get offers for more than MLE money. The odds of him being a Blazer next year are near zero, IMO. A better question is whether Hood can replace CJ’s scoring next year. Doubt it.
Free Agency will be interesting this year. However, with half of the league FAs this offseason... 1) I don't think teams will be falling over themselves to get a tiny tot who can't create his own shot, play PG, or play defense particularly well. 2) Since teams will be scrambling to move salary for a chance at all of these FAs, Biebs and ET won't be traded (until the deadline, if at all). tldr; If you like Curry, don't worry. If you want ET and Biebs gone, it ain't gonna happen.
When you are reading a thread, when you get to the bottom, it shows other threads that have similar titles. Just so happened to see the one from me at the bottom.
The thing is, Thompson doesn't just sit in the corner, waiting for the ball. He plays more like Reggie Miller, zooming around the court constantly, around screens, losing defenders. His constant motion creates disorder for defenses. McCollum could do that and be plenty active. And even then, he still wouldn't have to be a pure shooter--attacking close-outs, drawing help and finishing or kicking out is immensely valuable when the ball does come to him. I don't think McCollum needs the ball in his hands, in a ball-dominant fashion, to be successful.
No, he can't. But that doesn't mean team efficiency or scoring would go down. Also, CJ's defense isn't much.
Don’t disagree with that, Bert. I’ve never said I was totally against trading CJ. What I have always said is that I think the right approach to making trades is to figure out who you want to trade FOR and then see if there’s a deal that makes sense. Too often around here it’s which Blazer someone wants to trade away.
I did not give Thompson enough credit in my post but I simply meant Thompson is fine without having the ball in his hands, thats not something I can see CJ being fine with.
So Ive seen a lot of people insinuate that well this proves we dont need CJ, or that CJ’s easily replaceable. I would caution against making that claim now. Most of the games have been at home, the teams they faced while not terrible, not exactly teams you expect to do much in a few weeks. Its just too few games to really know in my opinion. Especially without Nurk I think CJ’s going to play a big role in determining what the Blazers are capable of in the post-season.
- Theyll have to choose between Curry and Hood - theyll likely have to trade Meyers, Moe, or ET to get far enough below the hard cap to open up the Full MLE in order to resign Curry or Hood. Curry will likely make more than $5.5M (Just look at guys like Doug McDermott and Mario Herzonja). So for the chance to choose between Curry and Hood, theyll likely have to trade ET or Meyers.
Don’t worry, CJ/Zach/Simons/and some picks are headed to New Orleans. We will be keeping Seth and Hood. Oh yeah and after that at next years trade deadline the Nards/Moe expirings will be traded for some stud wing but right before that Nurk is gonna come back faster than anyone expected and actually be better than he was before the injury. Dame/Seth Layman/Hood Stud Wing/ET AD/Chief Nurk/Who Cares Book it all.
And what could we get in a trade for CJ? Why do we assume we can get a better player than him in a trade? Seth doing this against low tier teams is nice, but it doesn't say he's at CJ's level and thus CJ is easily replaceable.
This doesn't work for those of us who read threads backward. I skip the intro stuff and head straight for the latest. If that's any good, I read the preceding post. Etc. By the time the thread bores me enough to leave it, the bottom of the page is long gone and I'm sky-high on the page. Legalize LSD!
