I think that's a safe range, this early in the process.

I don't think we'll have any real idea how close he is until six months from now, so my speculation in this thread is as bad as the next guy's, haha.

And next winter, we'll be arguing about what "back" means ;)

So because Paul George came back and played a few games after 8 months, that’s what we believe will happen to Nurk? I’m not a doctor, but that doesn’t seem right.

I think people are using it as an example of what COULD happen, not what they believe WILL happen.

OK, just checking. Because that shocked EVERYBODY. That is definitely not the norm. I’m just seeing “Paul George did this so Nurk will do this” type posts. Like I said, I think if you think Nurk is going to be back in 8 months, you might be setting yourself up for a let down.

I believe, also, that the difference is that Paul came back with what, a few games left in the season and the Pacers where fighting for the 8th playoff spot so it's likely that he came back early to help him.

His recovery has been amazing. Very happy for him. Can only believe what was going through his camp’s mind while he was laying on the floor. This past fall my wife and I watching my son not get up off the football field, was a feeling I wouldn’t wish on anybody. I can only imagine when it’s a professional athlete. I have no details about Nurk and my only experience in the medical field would be from watching re-runs of MASH as a kid.........that said, some reserch should be done, because I’m quite sure the recovery time is not normally only 8 months. We’ll see, won’t we. I DO know he is in good hands.

I think a lot of people, in the media, are becoming arm chair physical therapists (i.e., he weighs so much etc).

I think 6-8 months is when he should be starting to return to physical activity, I believe. I don't think it's unexpected that the timeline might be similar (ish). Not saying that people should be expecting it to be 8 months and he's back, but hoping for it.

yep...and he only averaged 15 minutes a game for 6 games and looked like a shell of what he was before the injury

personally, I think it's loopy to expect that Nurkic will be on the same time-table as Paul George

Right. When can he start putting pressure on it. When can he start strengthening exercises. When can he initiate light impact. When can he do full workouts, including full impact. When can he play in an actual game.

The later stages depend on how the earlier stages go.

Like Sergeant Schultz: We know nothing.

Right? How’s that relevant to anything? I hope next time Nurkic actually headbutts him.

Hadn't seen the following posted anywhere, from ESPN+

    $1 million for 50 wins
Jusuf Nurkic | Portland Trail Blazers

Give credit to the Blazers for how they structured the four-year, $48 million Nurkic contract. The team-friendly deal also adds a financial incentive for regular-season success. Nurkic will earn $1.25 million if Portland wins 50 games this season, something the Blazers have not done since 2014-15. The bonus was deemed unlikely before the season.

FiveThirtyEight currently projects Portland to win 51 games.

Reaching 50 wins would come with a financial cost to the Blazers: The tax bill in Portland will increase from $13.82 million to $16 million.

For future years, the Nurkic cap hit will be adjusted to $13.2M, $14.1M and $13.2M.

Note: Despite his season-ending injury, Nurkic has played 70 games and will still earn the bonus if Portland wins 50 regular-season games.

haha i thought it was innocuous. Out of place given the circumstances but harmless.
