Had an operation on my arm. This is about the sixth one of this nature on this arm. I've had two other operations of a different nature on the same arm. I won't go into the multitude of various operations I've had. They gave me lidocaine and fentanyl for the pain. Got a huge rush from the fentanyl but it couldn't be described as pleasant other than I had no pain. Good grief, I hate these operations. Lord, please never make me go through another one ever, never, ever. Three doctors and they all had a lot of experience. One of the docs was younger, one was my age and one was older than me. I felt lucky to have them because they all exuded confidence and appeared to know exactly what they were doing. Thank God for the VA. Oh, by the way, my buddy, also a combat Vet, fell down and seriously injured his head. He's up at OHSU probably for the same reason I was once up there, the VA emergency room and/or ICU was full. He's a really nice guy who wasn't the recipient of good luck in combat. A bunch of us use to ride the VTS bus to the hospital early in the morning. We were all combat Vets. We once broke into singing - It was so cathartic!
Who'da thought folks would be satisfied with government run healthcare? Lying ass Republicans act like the ACA is a government takeover when they wrote the bill....
I had an appointment with a specialist at the Portland VA Hospital in early January. After much searching, my regular provider can't not find a record of the vist. Nor can the Portland Va Hospital. It is like it did not happen. So here we are 4 month later, I have an appointment with a specialist at the Portland VA Hospital next Tuesday. I sort of hope I draw a different one. Of course the condition has vastly improved waiting the additional time. You all hurry now, push for Government health Care!!!
Like a few other combat Vets over at that hospital, he's struggling with addiction. Funny thing is, if I hadn't moved to Portland when I was 11, I would have gone to the same Jr. High that he attended and we are the same age. He went to Jr. High and High School with my cousin and a lot of my friends back in the day. He currently lives less than a mile from me in the same town. He's a nice guy who's physical health has seemed like it was going down hill for a while now. I pray for him and the other guys struggling with addiction that happened to them in Vietnam during respite periods when they weren't fighting for their lives. Drugs were offered to me but thank God I was able to resist them in the first place. No prostitutes, no drugs, I was raised what you might call a good boy.
Lanny, Just now saw this and I hope you are on the mend. Once again my friend thanks for your service and sacrifice for our great country! My youngest son (Sergeant in National Guard) is getting deployed to Qatar this September.
Are you or have you ever been on Medicare? Are you or have you ever been in the VA Healthcare system? If not, you are talking out your ass.
Man, I come in here to send Lanny some well wishes, and the second post is this? Humm. I really don't know what to say.... Well.... I hope you get better soon, Lanny. The VA medical center down here seems pretty good. We have a family friend that has to go up to Portland, and they've treated him awesome up there. Even down to the parking lot security- very respectful and helpful. Sure makes things a lot more pleasant.
The security guard who guards the entrance to the parking garage takes one look at my disabled Veteran license plate and ushers me right in, no questions asked. Also, in past years people would respond gruff while now they are extremely helpful even thanking me for my service. This place is night and day better than it once was.
Right. None of the right wing does. They want it to be a secret that the ACA was originally Bob Dole's alternative to Hillarycare. That Bill, mandate and all, was written by The Heritage Foundation.
