Seems reasonable. We have 3 second round picks (ours, TB, and Dallas). Curious which one is getting dealt, hopefully TB. The third-round pick the Rangers are sending to Carolina, which currently holds a 2-0 lead over the Islanders in the second round of the playoffs, for next year could become a second-rounder if Fox plays 30 games in 2019-20,per TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Looks like it is our 2nd: OFFICIAL: #NYR have acquired defenseman Adam Fox from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for the Blueshirts’ own second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft and a conditional third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.
I don't like that it is our 2nd, but not going to flip out. Also think it is reasonable he plays 30 games next season, so the 3rd could go as well. With that said, I think we'll see a more aggressive Rangers this summer. Sign a UFA like Panarin or deal for a RD like Trouba. I think we see a buyout as well (maybe Smith). With the # 2 pick in the draft, another 1st from the Jets, and two 2nd's remaining I think Gorton will start to smartly move towards improving now to set us up for two years from now (after one more fringe playoff transition season).
A little steep imo if Fox really was intent on coming here, but i guess to insure things with all the picks we have it's alright. Couldn't they have made it Tampa's 2nd and our 2020 2nd? Hate giving up a top 40 pick.
I researched it one time. The odds a second round pick becomes a good NHL player is about 11%. So the odds we will find a better player in the second round than Fox is slim to none.
Not worried about the picks here. This opens up a lot. They could easily trade Pionk and get back a second IMO. My guess is they now will package Pionk with the Jets first and perhaps a goalie like Huska or Wall and a prospect like Nieves or a player like Fast and move up in the top 10. As usual, Rangers fans love to bash every fn defenseman we have. They always have more value to the rest of the league.
He should be signing his ELC within a few days. This is where he wants to be. Krav and Shest likely too in the next 48.
Read a while back that they have agreed already.. https://nypost.com/2019/04/15/rangers-adding-top-prospects-shestyorkin-kravtsov-amid-rebuild/
Another great move by Gorton, Fox lead the nation in PPG (1st time a dman has in 25 years), to get him for a 2nd rounder then lock him up.
This team should be a powerhouse for years to come. Some of the East superstars are entering the old fart ages now. Others have no clue how to win still. Example, Florida.
Amazing Florida continues to not even make the playoffs with some of the players they have. Huberdeau is a guy in a few years a team could poach.
The continue to have no goal tending. Yet, the morons draft one goalie in the last 4 years, that was in the third round. Idiots. If they had a brain in their heads, they would trade Dadonov who is 30, has one year left on his deal or Trocheck who is 25 and is locked up for a decent amount. Obviously, the Rangers would be a target. They aren't getting Georgiev or Shesterkin. So, do they go after Hank? I doubt he would go. He would probably retire. Yet, guys like Huska, Wall and Halverson would be on the table. It obviously would take more. They also need defensive role players. More D. A guy like Fast would be a huge pickup for Florida. Namestnikov as well. Maybe something like Trocheck for Pionk, Fast, Namestnikov and Huska or Wall. I think that is more than a fair offer. That trade would help both teams a lot going forward.
I would trade Georgiev if Shest proves to be working out in a few years though he may end up in Seattle anyhow. With Huska and maybe Lindbom they could still maybe have a good future backup. Lundqvist to Florida definately could be a possibility, especially if Lu retires.
Definitely need to move a few dmen to make room for youth and hopefully McQuaid. Gorton has been on a roll and he has young inexpensive players to package. I think Hank's days of helping a team out ended with the Cup run, father time catches us all.
