One free agent that kind of fits Olsheys MO is Kyle O’Quinn. He barely played for the pacers this season but has shown a versatile skill set when given minutes elsewhere. His advanced metrics are also pretty intriguing. Grades out well defensively, career PER of 18, solid free throw shooter suggests he could maybe expand his range, plus rebounder (especially offensively) and passer. He’d be an affordable fill in for Nurkic before sliding into a reserve role. Side note: he’s also one of Harkless’ closest friends. Usually wouldn’t mean much but we know how up and down Moe can get. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Hezonja got a look from Olshey. He’s already shown interest in the past and I don’t think his production, or lack of, will deter Neil. Another guy that should fit into the culture, as he’s buddies with Nurk.
Mostly, I think this stuff is out of Neil's hands: Curry will be let go. Kanter will be offered mid-level (if we have it), his choice. If Kanter doesn't take it, it'll be offered to Hood, otherwise Hood will be offered vet. min. with some winking about getting him more $$$ later. Aminu will be offered $7 mil. Take it or leave it, dude (he'll take it). Layman did not make the third year leap. Why re-sign him when many more valuable FAs will be had with vet. min?
Of course. If we beat Golden State, and win the championship, no doubt Durant will come knocking on our door. I hope we pretend we're not home.
What Layman does you can get out of minimum deal guys. Not that anybody will offer him a deal so I expect him to stay with something like 3-4M.
I believe Curry is gone with Simons and Trent waiting in the wings. Aminu I believe he will sign some where else due to he knows his starting position will be taken by Zach. Layman will probably sign QO. I believe Olshey will probably try to trade Turner or Harkless and the 1st on draft night. I think he will try to sign Hood and Kanter.
I think the same people shitting on Layman are the same people who constantly have bad opinions about the direction of this team and the talent capable of reaching the WCF. Minimum deal guys are just like Layman, incredibly athletic, team-oriented, and team-familiar. Of course they are. Layman didn't make a leap? WTF does that mean? He improved demonstratively and helped the team win many games. That he gets shorted by Stotts doesn't change the facts of the matter, only the obtuse perception you might have.
