No - we are asking how the Blazers can emulate the Warriors' success. When you get right down to it, people are asking if Stotts is our Kerr, or our Jackson. People may not phrase it that way, but that is the question.

How many times has he now lost to Kerr in the playoffs? 15 times?
Doesn't he have the squad necessary to compete? What else does he need?
Yes, we beat OKC and Denver, but I will be pissed if we were swept against the Warriors.

Let's take a look at the list of coaches who have eliminated Kerr in the last 4 years:

    Ty Lue

No, the Blazers roster is not good enough to beat the Warriors. Rank their top 6 players and compare it to the Blazers and they have us at each comparison. If you are outmatched 1-6, you're highly unlikely to beat a team in a best of 7 series in my opinion.

It comes down to style of play. I know the Warriors have talent but watch the way they play. Now watch the way we play.

Night and day difference. One team pushes the ball, moves the ball extremely well, moves players, has creative, unique sets to put players in a position of strength. They switch up their defensive schemes regularly. The other team plays a very slow halfcourt offense, which doesn't move players and runs the same few, basic sets which is easy to trap. They also run one defensive scheme all year.

That's what it comes down to.

D'Antoni competed ... lost in 6, but competed the last 2 years
Doc Rivers took them to 6 games. The Clippers competed this year, although they lost.
    We aren't even competitive.
Can we win 1 game? 2 games?
NO. We are just looking for another excuse for Stotts, who was given players after players after players ...
Last year D'Antoni competed with the likes of Mbah Amoute ... who is worst than Aminu. Look at Houston/Clippers roster. Look at ours ...

We play a team as often as we do the Warriors and we can't figure out a way to win 1 or 2 games against them?
Embarrassing. I'm not a Stotts fan, if he can't win a game this series.

So you're measuring stick is winning 1 game? Does that mean if we win Game 4 you will be ok with everything?

Mbah A Moute was in and out of the rotation against Golden State, he should be worse than our starting PF shouldn't he? Would you rather have PJ Tucker and Ariza or Harkless and Aminu? Would you rather have Iggy & Green or Harkless and Aminu? It's not even close on a talent scale.

It's time for change. Terry has been with us for 7 seasons. We have won exactly 4 playoff series in that tenure. And the offense/defense have only been getting more stale every year. We will get absolutely hammered in the media for letting Stotts go, but the Terry's flaws only get magnified the deeper we go into the playoffs.

We need a battle-tested tactician who can hold his players accountable. Unfortunately, most of these guys have massive egos and can be assholes, but that is the price to pay for experience. I want someone like SVG.

How do you figure our offense/ defense keeps getting more stale every year? Our defense has taken a big jump and our offense has been near the top as well. Depending on what metrics are used we were ranked #5 in defense and 4th in offensive efficiency. If you have something to prove otherwise then let's see it.

Unreal, in the WCF and a 3rd seed in a year we were predicted to probably miss the playoffs and people still want to whine and cry about Stotts. If you guys are so tired of posters showing support for Stotts then don't continuously whine about him on a daily basis.

Two sides to every coin. :bgrin:

ah, I see. I just searched for defensive rankings and that's how it came up. Thanks. If you go back through previous years, we were below this years ranking except for last year. I'm also not a fan of defensive rankings as it's hard to rank defense.

Defensive efficiency is literally how many points are given up per 100 possessions. As far as defensive stats go, team defensive efficiency is about as unbiased as you can be, since it will take into account all factors.

Choosing to dismiss a stat because it doesn’t fit your narrative is.....well it’s not great.
