Point 1) The Oregonian should be better than that, but hasn't been for years, so no surprise. Point 2) Coughing up two double digit margins is fair game for the national media, who will of course focus on the prominent players. Point 3) Thanks all media involved for firmly embedding the chips on this teams folders. Point 3a) But still, fuck em for being lazy hacks.
That's fair. They chose to be provocative in their teasers to draw eyeballs, and that allows for criticism if those teasers annoyed people.
There is nothing in that tweet to indicate anything other that it is a statement by the Oregonian. It's sickening. The Oregonian seems to think that photo, the trash brothers name, and the national memes and jokes are "BEST". Plus the photo/meme isn't even from Game 3, so not sure how it could be one of the "Best Game 3 memes", in the words of the Oregonian. The Oregonian is the joke, and has been for 30 years.
It wasn't presented as a "roundup". It was presented as what the Oregonian thinks is the "best" of Blazers bashing; with a seemingly gleeful link to negative national media press. Apparently, when Skip Bayless goes low, the Oregonian goes lower.
The Oregonian linked to negative national memes and opinions. But that wasn't enough. They approved of it, they liked it, they took ownership of it, and they promoted it as being the "Best". Otherwise, all they had to do was say: Roundup of negative national reaction to Blazers Game 3 loss. Even then, why focus on only the negative, if the Oregonian wasn't expressing it's own negative opinion? They didn't post a generic 'roundup' of national reactions and memes. Only the negative ones. Which the Oregonian thought were great, apparently. Boycott the Oregonian. I personally avoid their shit like the plague they are.
I don't know why anybody is surprised by this. The Oregonian has becomes a click-bait whore and has been that for years as a UofO alum and a Duck fan I'm well aware of the trashy direction that rag will always go. They consistently slant any Duck stories with negative headlines and negative takes because they know it generates traffic. I'd love it if the Blazers locked out OLive reporters for a while, but the Blazers probably don't need a war with the local rag. fuck OLive
I hate, Hate, HATE this kind of 'journalism' that newspapers and websites use now as clickbait. This isn't journalism in any sense of the being, it's just lazy and adding in the headline and picture are taking it a step further. The Oregonian can try and side step it now but they know it's pure garbage what they put out. I do think McGowen's comeback is knee jerk, and really giving them what they want in more attention and I'm sure clicks. As for Skip, the fact that ANYONE cares what this guy says anymore is beyond me. He's a time filler, that's all! He fills the air with his idiotic comments and flip flops all over the place. The sooner people understand him for what he is, not as a trusted journalist or opinion maker, but as a used car salesman trying to get you to buy into his words, then the better.
I've never seen this level of vitriol towards Dame though. It's completely unprompted and unwarranted. I'd get it if Dame did something to the guy, but this is just pure hate. Not used to this.
Bullshit. There’s no reason other than hate to republish this vile, unsupportable slander. Damian has been playing with a separated rib for over 2 weeks and the team is in the WCF despite losing their 3rd best player and starting center before the playoffs started. Bayless is a nobody whose only claim to fame is his well-documented homophobia.
His profile after the OKC shot has never been higher, the target on his back never bigger. Pretty quick turn around from media darling to punching bag, but the fall from grace story sells better than the ascent to greatness story.
Goes hand-in-hand with their coverage of the Parkrose gun-on-campus incident on Friday, quickly transitioning from "School in lockdown" to "Former UO football player saves the day!" mode once Lowe's involvement was brought to light.
The front office of the Blazers definitely tries to control the local media. They've locked out people/companies for a lot less than this. Now if that headline criticized Olshey then they'd be locked out for sure, ha ha.
