    A missing piece: AARON GORDON

Meyers Leonard, Harkless and Trent plus our #1 pick for Aaron Gordon and filler

[assume we can somehow re-sign Kanter, Hood and Curry]

    Dame / Simons
CJ / Curry / free agent
Hood / Turner / sign Aminu cheap?
    Gordon / Collins
    Kanter / Skal / Nurkic

Dame works during the off-season with Hood to build his confidence and as a result, Hood becomes the small forward we need. Gordon provides a high-energy PF with a ton of upside. He’s got a decent 4-year contract as well.

Perhaps at the 2020 trade deadline we can unload Turner and target a SF but he’s ours to keep now...

Ya, there's no reason for Orlando to do this.

You got to do at least 2 #1 picks to the Magic for this to be in the realm of possibilities. I like Gordon's fit on this team however.

Pass. Aaron Gordon isn't the talent upgrade we need.

Who's going to take a package of our under-performing, over-paid players and give a way a legitimate all-around SF who is still young?

A realistic trade scenario has to include CJ.

He's not actually that good, but I do think he's worth more than that poo poo platter.

Realistically, I don’t believe we’ll be able to acquire a better PF prospect than Gordon without breaking up the team; trading CJ and/or Collins heads in the direction of a break up of the team in my opinion.

Somehow we need to figure out how to afford and squeeze in a high energy PF. Griffin and Love do not fit the bill.

Gordon could! And it’s true that Gordon has yet to prove himself fully. Some say he never will. I say that Portland is a perfect fit.

Leonard has shown flashes and on a team like Orlando or Atlanta, he’ll enjoy another 5-6 years. Add Harkless, Trent and picks (give them as many picks as it takes) and we might be able to pull off this deal. But CJ is too high a price to pay for Gordon.

Orlando is on the rise, primarily due to Vucevic's emergence, but secondarily due to Gordon's continued growth. I think it's fair to say that they have no interest in letting him go, especially if they lose Vucevic in free agency (as is very possible).

honestly, we wont get one. the team we have, when healthy, is pretty fuckin good. our bench could be starters (albeit on a shitty team, but still) on a different team. i think, full heartily, our team could have made the finals if we were full strength. for that reason, we should keep the team intact.

I guess I wouldn't hate it if your original proposal was close to what we give up but I think Gordon is super overrated by a lot of people.

No way Orlando touches that. They just made the playoffs, they’re building with Gordon, Isaac, Bamba and could see Fultz reviving there.

Its funny that Ive seen, people say they dont want Gordon, Blake, or LMA, but we all agree we need an forward... Just any forward thats sort of realistic we don't want heh.

You heard it here first. Vucevic will be a Laker next season.

Oof, if that’s so... something went from horrible to rock bottom in Laker Land. I’m okay with that lol

I think Orlando would probably be open to dumping Gordon and his contact, but I’m not sure how he fits in Portland. His best position is power forward and he’s not a very good shooter (career 32% from 3) so it’d be tough to envision him playing next to Nurk. I like Collins’ fit a lot more and he’s not going to cost $20M.

All of those choices have risks.

I understand, but every player has “some” risk.

If we want to let Chief walk, I'd seriously consider bringing back Ed Davis to plug that gap....Davis starting next to Nurk or coming off the bench with Kanter would be awesome...and he's left handed with you pair with a right hander like Zach and you don't have a weak side of the basket. Ed only signed a one year deal with the Nets and is a free agent who isn't big money driven and doesn't need touches.....already a fan favorite and knows the system
