Dame needs a coach that will force / encourage driving more then making a game into a 3pt shootout -- as they say you LIVE by the 3 and Die by it and right now they are dying Truth is Dame should get with CJ and get a mid range game more then expanding his 3 pt shooting
He's often successful in beating a guy and around the base line for a reverse or lay up, its usually when he's dribbling long, looking for a seam and blows directly through defenders waiting for him.
I mean seriously. The coaching staff has Dame dribbling into a double team that everyone in the building knows is coming on every possession. Shit, when I was in the fifth grade the coach had two guards bring the ball up together so they could pass to each other. The coaches can't figure out how to run an offense that doesn't involve Dame getting trapped and smothered by taller defenders, sometimes bringing a third? Really? Every game the Blazers have found new ways to beat themselves. The one thing that has remained constant is having Dame dribble into a hopeless situation every time up the court. The Blazers aren't giving themselves a chance to win.
Dame can't beat Jerebko off the dribble while on single coverage right now. He needs a screen to get past anyone. I think it's a function of him being worn out. 80 games in the regular season ( with the last 10 where he single-handedly carried the team), 5 emotionally draining first round games, and 7 hard fought battles against double/triple teams, and he is running on E right now. The rib/hamstring injuries notwithstanding, this is a ridiculous load he has placed on his body. The same thing has happened to Harden the past few years. I really hope for his sake they monitor his minutes moving forward in the regular season next year. This is why building the roster is so important. You think Curry would have the juice he does now if he had to carry GS like Dame carried us earlier in the season? It's also why all this bullshit about GS doesn't need KD is just that-- bullshit.
Here are leaders of minutes (regular season + playoffs): 1. Dame -- 3444 (606 in the playoffs) 2. Harden -- 3291 3. T. Harris -- 3290 4. Klay-- 3236 5. PJ. Tucker-- 3228 6. Durant-- 3132 as a comparison, Steph is at 2879 Dame's minutes rival Lebron over the past few seasons. I bet he can't wait to take a month or two off before starting up again. Rest those legs.
Unfortunately, we are in the West, and we dont have the roster to give Lillard more rest in the Regular Season because every game is important in our Conference, and the bad thing is, Lillard will have to carry this team even more next Season with Nurkic out, and btw did i mention that Hood, Kanter, Seth and Aminu will be gone maybe?. Well i'm pretty sure we don't see all these 4 together as Blazers Players, maybe we can keep at least Hood. It doesn't get any better for Lillard next Season unless Neil will be creative and works his ass of in the Offseason, if not, i could easily see a 1st round exit next year
Not sure but this literally makes no sense. Dame has been shooting step backs since his rookie year....
Rachel literally made this up. Listen to what she says: "And I think you will see him working on his step back three this Summer to add to his game cause that's what he's missing in this series. Dame never said it's something he is going to or needs to work on.
This is silly. Seth Curry should be getting more time instead of Turner. If we had no Turner on this team, we'd be able to play Seth more minutes.
Sorry to but I can't get over the coach's inability to deal with this trapping bullshit. I'm not half the Xs and Os guy some of you are, but since they know the trap and double team are coming, can't they set something up to get the ball out of Dame's hands, to an unguarded player, before it gets there? Can't they devise a way to "trap the trap"? Mere fans want to know.
So is Turner... At least Curry is really, really good at something so, he should get minutes because Turner really isn't...
I disagree completely. We've seen him in that role when Dame was out and he shined. He never plays the 1 when we bring him off the bench. As a starter in Dallas he played the position great.
They can flash a big from the low to high post, pass him the ball and then run cutters. There's lots that can be done.
I'd rotate and have CJ bring the ball up at times. Even insert Hood into a starting role and have him bring it up. Mix it up
I mean he can’t practice alone but I would like to see him add pushing the ball quickly to this game. Like we see Curry and Green do, we need to run back fast after teams make buckets to keep them on their heels.
I really wish that DraftExpress College video of Lillard was still around. He was one of the best transition guards in the NCAA and had stats to prove it. I think it's coaching, not Dame.
