Gah... This is almost as bad as losing game 4. I would have gone with the guy who beat Stotts in the playoffs a few years back: Dave Joerger. I don't believe in teams forgetting everything they learned from their previous coach, i believe Joerger would have brought something new into the mix. Here's a nice throwback video for us to see how far we've gone. "stagnation on offense?" "unnecessary hand-offs?" you don't say coach Nick, you don't say. Can we at least get Terry some assistants? -A defensive coordinator. -A guy who can tell him when the other team is already on a 6-0 run and notify him on momentum swings. -A guy who can tell him when his own players are hot\cold. -A guy who can play "bad cop" with Lillard and CJ.
Answer this, if Dame and CJ were tired why didn't we run plays for other players or bring in fresher legs throughout the games so that they were fresher near the end then at the beginning? For example, last night we barely went to Meyers in the 2nd half. If those guys are too tired maybe we shouldn't be running iso or pick and rolls for them the entire 2nd half. You don't just go from energized to completely lost and worn out from the 2nd to the 3rd quarter. The real reason is that Kerr made adjustments at halftime, Stotts thought he didn't have to change anything because Dame and CJ usually bail him out. If they were tired he needed to adjust, it's that simple.
So, I know you didn't call him a name but this is a personal insult. And you can have a dose of STFU...
Lol. Well, hopefully he comes back. I have always appreciated the time that he put into his posts, with the stats and all. I've noticed a couple others awol too. Anyways, FTFM..... HEY, @Boob-No-More , what do you think about this???
I love how you're tacitly assuming we have anything like the talent that Mark Jackson had. It's sort of sweet.
It is not a lame excuse it is a fact. I thought we would have won one game but we did not. We were down 17 points against Denver and came back and won. We have the second best backcourt in the NBA but that does not matter if the best backcourt in the NBA is 5 car lengths ahead of you and their 3rd and 4th best players on the floor are better then your second best player on the floor. I mean my lord we just proved to the world that we could beat arguably 2 of the 3 best teams in the western conference with one hand tied behind our back taking a knife to a gunfight and making a good show of it to the best team in the NBA. Now you may not be happy with how it ended and I am not either but until we fix 3/4 we aint going any further. I am ecstatic on how the season played out as a whole because we found out who we are and what we are made of and we need to make those other adjustments.
Nah. Just find it hilarious that the dude thinks he’s gods gift to this forum with his basketball knowledge.
No one knew the talent that Mark Jackson had at the time either. The Warriors were a good team but no one thought they would develop into the giants that they are today. Steph Curry was coming off his first All-Star appearance. There was even debate from our fanbase as to who was the better SG, Wesley Matthews or Klay Thompson. The pre-Kerr Warriors got bounced in the 1st round by the Clippers that season. Even Steve Kerr himself didn't know. He was debating between taking the Knicks job or Warriors. Luckily for Kerr and Curry, he chose the Warriors job. It was his arrival as the new coach and implementing the flowing offense that elevated Curry and Klay to the next level. Who says that can't happen to Dame and CJ and this team if a new coach arrived???
How much of the wcf’s was just the Blazers were “happy to be there” and anything short of a ring is a failure for GS? Had a conversation earlier and the guy I was with talked about that Draymond basically seemed determined he wasnt going to lose, and while the Blazers didnt want to loss, he thought they’re intensity was a lot less then the other series’ and maybe its because their real goal was just getting to the wcf to begin with.
Thats coaching, not dame and cj choking. Actually i think you do. I think the lull and cool down makes it hard for them to kickstart back up again right away. Im not saying kerr didnt make adjustments, but i think the guys hit the wall in the lockeroom each game, too.
Jackson won 51 games with a starting line-up of David Lee, Bogut, Iggy, and a pre-prime Thompson. Curry was already great, but their bench was mediocre at best. This was 2 seasons after the team was well under .500. This was not some super team. If anything, you are making a case that Olshey should go also....which I am in agreement with.
For what I was trying to get across, it is entirely accurate. At the time, people said the same thing. "Who could we get that is better?" Certainly none of those names that were listed had any proof or history of being better than who they replaced and yet they weren't only better, they were in some cases MILES better. I'm sure the same exists now. Candidates that there is no proof of that they would be better but that could be MUCH better. Of course there is risk but with risk can come big rewards. Or, we can play it safe like we are and very likely not depart from very close to where we have been. Swept or Gentlemen Swept for 4 years in a row. Very much this! GS was the better team. But there were certainly things that could be improved on that in some cases, were almost the worst coaching decision that could be made.
Oh the Blazers were 100% just happy to be there, especially Dame and Stotts. Dame basically said as much last night. There was definitely a difference in mentality between we have to win this (Dame in the 1st round and GS this round) and not wanting to lose but being good with how things turned out if you did (Blazers this series).
Okay, yeah, this thread is literally about coach Stotts so of course that is coaching. I'm sorry but that is the lamest excuse for a poor performance I've ever heard. They hit a wall in the locker room? That wall is called Terry Stotts and his lack of coaching.
Hood Curry Leonard (That free throw line jump shot was there the entire 2nd half and we only passed it to him there once) Kanter (did we even try to post him up in the 2nd half of any games?) Collins (scored 6 straight points and then I don't think he touched the ball again) You know the same people that were carrying us in the 1st halves this whole series while Dame and CJ struggled.
