All NBA teams announced. Dame 2nd team.

When is the press conference about his supermax?

To be fair, it was only half-sarcastic. It was meant to be more about Terry and less about Meyers/Curry.

Wow, Dame wasn't even close to 1st Team. That's kind of surprising.

Why? The only argument in Dame's favor over Curry is number of games played, and Curry did still play over 80% of the season. I think Steph 1st team and Dame 2nd was a no-brainer.

Dame was 1st team last year, was the game played significantly different?

Dame only got 1st team last year because Curry missed 31 games.

Last year Steph missed nearly 40% of the season. Completely reasonable for him to be dropped down a peg after missing 31 games.

If he'd played 70 games last year, he'd have been first team ahead of Dame then as well.

Interesting note: as I understand it, only 4 players have received a super max so far. Those are Curry, Harden, Westbrook, and Wall.

The Wall deal is a 20 megaton shitstorm. Is Westbrook worth it? I would say no. Harden? Debatable. Curry? A question because of health concerns.

The more I think about, the more skeptical I am about the whole business. Dame is the team MVP and popular with the fans - but he is hardly some Michael Jordan type generational talent. OTOH, can a team that shoveled money down the sewer to pay Hark, Crabbe, Leonard, and Turner not overpay their best player as well? What a fustercluck!

I think there is a case to be made that Dame had a better regular season when you consider the talent level discrepancy and how that only led to 4 fewer wins. The season GS had in only winning 57 games I thought might lead to some voter fatigue for those guys. I know All-NBA is different than MVP but if it's about stats why wouldn't Westbrook be a lock over both of them?

I think getting swept by the Pelicans cost Dame votes because those that did vote him 1st Team last year got blasted on social media. Dame probably will have the opposite effect next year since we made it so far.

I think the rule is bad... They should do something like when a player is eligible for the supermax they can negotiate any contract they want with that team, but the MAX that it counts against the cap is 25% of the cap. A.) There are some superstars that are worth far more to their franchises then what the supermax pays them. B.) Doesn't kill a franchise's ability to build a team.

Edit: A team can only have one "Supermax" on their roster. So they can not trade for a 2nd.

GSW was also 5-8 in the games Curry missed, 52-17 when he played. Blazers won both games Lillard didn't play. So Curry played in more wins than Lillard while playing in 11 fewer games. I'm sorry, but in no way did Dame have a better regular season.

Westbrook is far behind both in PER, TS%, WS, WS/48--the advanced stats show Westbrook isn't in the same tier.

At least win a league MVP or a championship before you get the supermax... or both

And that is probably where the 8 1st team votes came from. It is an interesting argument, and I expect it to heat up as Dame continues through his prime, and Curry starts to feel the miles.

We should sign Miracle Max to go with Super Max.

I have no problem with Curry being 1st team but when you look at their numbers they're pretty similar. It's an easier game when you play alongside 4 to 2 other all-stars all year long. You don't have to do the heavy lifting each night and defenses can't focus on you nearly as much if you've got Klay and Durant on either side. Green is practically their point guard as Dame pointed out after game 4. Curry is an amazing shooter but I believe that over the course of the season more of his shots were uncontested when compared to Lillard. At the very least he didn't have to work nearly as hard to get them.

The two games Lillard didn't play in were a home game against Atlanta and the last game of the year when we rested everyone, but something tells me you already knew that.

Harden and Curry got first team...Dame got second team...no shame it that. What I like is Westbrook only got 3rd team and Chris Paul didn't get the nostalgia vote in the west.....made me smile. Lebron only made 3rd team.

When Cousins was playing the Warriors entire starting 5 was completely All-NBA performers. Even when he wasn't 4 out of 5 is still crazy.

I don't think Dame has a single player on his roster that even has one 3rd team vote in their entire career.
