I'd rather wait for the next firestorm and hope to capitalize on that during the deadline through trade.

Harris locks us into a roster that isn't anywhere near contending imo.

    What?

We were in the WCF and up by 17 in three of four games...

And somehow adding a HUGE upgrade over Aminu makes it so that we're worse?

    Makes 0 sense.

There's no firestorm coming. There's literally no star players that'll be on the market after Anthony Davis outside of possibly Blake Griffin.

Schofield is the same size as Jae Crowder and more skilled than Crowder was coming out of college. He's a fantastic shooter and has the athleticism to be a good defender. I think he'll be an above average 3 and D wing. His height won't be much of a problem.

I wouldnt say he's more skilled. Schofielss NBA range is extremely questionable (he wasnt a great college 3pt shooter and his form is going to have trouble stretching out to NBA 3pt range. And he isnt the defender Crowder is/was. Schofield hrades out as an average defender whos an undersized F with questionable shooting, a love for tough mid-range shots, and an inability to get to the rim.

I liked him at the start of the year, but the more I watched him, the more I soured on him.

Does Tobias Harris offer THAT much more than Mirotic would?
Both I believe are out of Portland's price range, but I don't know.

Both are known shooters.(Harris being more consistent)
Harris shot just under 49% on 7.5 of 15 shots per.
Mirotic shot just under 44% on 5.2 of 12 shots per.

Maybe Harris is a better defender than I'm giving him credit for I don't know.
But I'll be honest, I really don't like Harris.

But then again I'd take both of them over Aminu or Harkless.

I'd look elsewhere to become a contender. But I just don't see how Portland makes many moves this off-season outside of trying to retain their current players.
    Hope I'm wrong.

I like Brandon Clarke a lot but part of me just thinks he is gonna be the defensive version of Justin Jackson.

    Yes.

Harris is a much better shooter than Mirotic. The difference between Harris and Mirotic is about twice as big as the difference between Mirotic and Aminu.

Hes also a better defender and better passer.

Hes also much more consistent and reliable.

I don't know what you mean by this... Justin Jackson is average (at best) offensively. Theres no way Clarke isnt at least an above average defender.

I'd go so far as to say you could get a steal or two in the first half of the second. Lot of very interesting players being projected there right now. That's why I think we might be able to have our cake and eat it, too, by trading our first and ET for a pick or two in the upper second.

I think Clarke’s lack of length is gonna hurt him and he will be an average at best swingman. Maybe an Iman Shumpert Type.

Swingman? Hes a 4. He'll be fine. Plays bigger than he is.

Way too small to play 4 though. 6’8 220?

Is Draymond too small to play the 4?

Draymond is the exception not the rule though, and while he lacks height he is heavy and long.

Clarke is extremely athletic, a very quick jumper and plays strong. He plays bigger than he is. He'll be fine at PF, especially in todays NBA. Hed be a perfect fit next to Meyers.

Clarke has a feel for the game that you don't see all that often. Elite instincts.

He's out of reach unless we trade way up.

If he is extremely athletic then why can't he play SF? I remember being impressed with him but I didn't see him play more than a couple of games. No handles or outside shot?

Because he cant shoot or handle the ball. His strength is as a pick n roll big and a weakside shot blocker. By playing him at SF you maximize his weaknesses and reduce his strengths.

He'll go top 15, but if hes somehow available at 17 or 18 Id be packaging #25, two or three future 2nds, and $5M cash to trade up for him
