No real reaction to this. He did well this past year. Hope he stays on that path and I also hope he’s learned from the last time he had money to throw around because next summer will be pretty big.
The good thing to take from this is Jody Allen seems all in. Spending money with the rumored Dame deal, Olshey and Stotts extensions. Teams that are looking to sell have historically tried to shed salary.
I'm saying Olshey is not essential and that I'm tired of people acting like he's some kind of player evaluation genius when in fact he has staff for that. I presume he makes decisions based on staff input and presents his final recommendations to ownership for final approval. But if his staff were giving him shit, his recommendations would be shit. When his staff gives him gold, his recommendations are gold. I'm not saying he isn't good at evaluation at some level, I have no way to know. I am pretty confident however that without quality staff, or if he didn't listen to his staff, he'd be a complete failure.
