This is what I would like to see happen. We do the following:

    upload_2019-5-25_9-4-34.png

But in this we swap picks with Orlando and take thier 16th pick and they get our 25th pick plus our 2021 1st.

We then draft this guy at #16.

Cam Johnson is already 23 years old, he looks like another Justin Jackson type Player. Would be a waste of a 1st round pick.

1st: Is Bazley really worth a 1st round pick? Most mock drafts i saw they see him in the 2nd round or not even as a 2nd round prospect

2nd: Does Neil really want a player with Klutch sports and Rich Paul environment? He talks so much about good charackter guys and culture and bla bla bla, i dont know if Neil is interested in him

I had to do a double take to make sure it was you that posted this. I'm not used to seeing posts from you with a trade analysis or about a draft prospect and this post had both!

There is plenty for me to review here that I usually find someone else who has said what I would have said. I used ot propose more trades in years past and what not, but have had less time the last couple years to be informed enough to know.

I still dont know whether Orlando would want Otto and all that, but I think with how the salaries drop off along with the picks they get, they would feel about the same as Chicago and plan their future around their cap relief and picks they gain.

At the same time, we get another potential foundational pc to put next to Collins and Simons for the future, but also a guy who could likely come off the bench next season and have an immediate impact.

really though. The most important move I think the Blazers could make this season is hiring an elite defensive minded assistant coach. Let Stotts focus on the offense more and hand over the defensive coaching and maturing of our players to a guro of that nature.

Simons needs defensive help. So will Okpula.

Now you guys can break this down as to why its wrong in so many ways. lol

When picking late in the 1st round there are usually two paths you can go down.

    1) Do you take a player with a low ceiling that could help you now? These are usually role type players. Occasionally one will become a Draymond Green or a Jimmy Butler but most people would be happy to find a fringe starter or bench rotation piece in the 20's with this approach.

    2) Do you take the player with the most upside? This is is much more likely to result in a wasted pick but take Simons last year who could still be nothing in this league but also flashes potential star power. Other than the final game of the season, he did nothing to help the team this year but if he pops in the next couple years it could send this team to another level.

Bazley is clearly in the #2 category. Not only does he have similar potential to Simons but he's got great size and plays a position the Blazers desperately need. He may never amount to anything or he could be a star. I don't mind taking those kind of risks at pick #25. The Klutch thing sucks but LeBron isn't going to be around forever and by the time it could come into play several years down the road it won't really matter.

For the record, ESPN's latest mock draft has Okpula still available at our 25th pick.

If you're going to do this kind of stuff you need to play our mock off season. I think you'd really like it!

James, you should play in our mock off season. You seem pretty knowledgeable about the draft and other players around the league!

NBA has him at 16. I cant stand ESPN anymore...

I know I would love it. I just dont think I have the time to put into it or the time available to be available when you need me to be, thus causing issues to the game. Maybe next year as I have less 'one time' projects going on that I will be finishing this year.

Every person is different and if we start drafting by who there agent is then your going to miss a lot. They gave Bazley a job to help showing responsibility and work on his game in the meantime. I one didn't like what they seen and another person had great review. But it comes down what the scouts see and what olshey decided. I think the kid has all the tools to be good if in the 1st or the 2nd. I bbelieve it depends on the team he goes too. There are not very in developing young players and have bad chemistry. Then there team is opposite of that and I believe we got good chemistry and great leadership with our veterans. That why I believe he will flourish with us.

Don't worry about that stuff. You're on here enough to be fine. It's more about having each team represented and we need people.

I hope your wife is okay! That is obviously more important! If you change your mind I could always give you a team that doesn't have a lot going on.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Agreed. Unless you're already a true title contender and you badly need depth for right now, I think #2 is always the way to go. Winning a championship is hard, it takes winning some bets. Making high-variance selections with late first round or second round picks is an important tool in potentially hitting the jackpot of a championship-caliber roster.
