Watching the Raptors, one would think they have some a Super Team ... En Serio !!!
Yes, they paying garbage Lowry lots of money, but it is a team made up of hustlers. They beat the Warriors twice this season. Marc Gasol? He scores once in a while.
Siakam? VanVleet? Ibaka? Danny Green? Powell?
Where did Nick Nurse come from? Never heard of this coach before.

Yes. Giannis is MVP. You believe MJ,Lebron or Kobe never airballed? You can't be serious.
Toronto offense is way better than our offense. Way better ...
And their Defense? Amazing. Look at their assets ... bunch of no-names.
Give me Nick Nurse every day over Stotts.

    What the actual fuck.

How does your opinion "show I'm wrong"? Passing off your opinion as fact. Nice.

You literally just backed up my point without knowing it. There were many reasons they got good ratings outside of being a superteam. They could've made the Finals without being superteams and gotten the same exact ratings. It was the rivalry, markets, and if they still had half the stars than they actually did, people would still tune in.

The WCF got great ratings even though the Warriors had no Durant so wasn't as much of a superteam, and Golden State seemed somewhat vulnerable to an upstart team with a great storyline.

Just because those teams werent as good and didnt pull ratings because of it doesnt mean superteams = ratings.

Who is Nick Nurse? Why didn't we hire this guy? His team plays darn hard. Sounds like a fun guy.

Thats precisely my point, Im not sure why you’re getting frustrated about this. If less teams suck and more teams have a shot to win a Title I think the NBA ratings would be higher then what they are with just ONE team having a legit chance at a Title...

The point brought to me was the height of the NBA “glory years”, was super team driven and thats what got ratings. Im saying that technology has changed a lot, those teams always attracted superstars and had superteams because they thought the market they played in would help them make money.

Today its been proven that “small” market guys can make a ton of money, and its been proven that small market teams can get ratings too. So parity would be good for the league’s ratings.

Why can’t the Blazers make something like the Jurassic Park? I think Raptors fans now surpassed the Blazers as the best fans in the NBA. That Jurassic Park was crazy.

So because they gave a group of people cheering outside, that means their fanbase is better? Pathetic.

Ours would be The Oregon Trail, and fans would randomly fall off the wagon and/or die of Cholera.

I absolutely do not want GSW to even win, let alone sweep.

So, the season not even over and people on this board ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED the Blazers will suck next year. I think you just like being miserable.

Of course. You always have the doom and gloomers. Then you have the people who are all in on the coach and GM being any and all problems so they kind of want to be validated. If the Blazers suck then they were right all along. This year would then become an aberration that they can discount. It's why a Blazer forum is tough to read for any length after the end of the season. Players that played well at some point become mystical figures that will somehow be the only way this team can get to the next level. Expect it with Simmons as he had one good game against a bad team but his heroics will be the only thing that saved this season for some. Of Course Nurk going down will be discussed to the point that every possible angle will be nauseatingly picked over. Neil will never even make the right calls to teams that have players some posters want even though those same posters have absolutely no clue who he has called or what dynamic is involved. Then you have the cap guys that have read and understand how the cap works but again have never even begun to have a conversation with another NBA GM but still think they have every angle covered. They talk about as many different possibilities as they can so when something does happen they can say "See i called this! I knew this was gonna happen". But always follow it up with "Why didn't Olshey do this?" when a third of the way through the season that player doesn't quite work out the way things were planned. Or it could be that Stotts simply has no idea how to use the players he has because he just sucks as a coach. Because how would he know what his players can and can't do after being their coach for this many years?

In the end the Blazers will indeed make a few changes and we will all be back to cheering for them to win. Probably cheering for Golden State to start sucking and Hoping LeBron and the Lakers continue to suck.

Unless there is a small tweak to the roster and possible growth from an end of bench dude that somehow magically becomes the savior of the franchise. Was pretty sure 16-66 was confirmed.

Yes Giannis is an MVP type player, but that doesn't mean his offense is all that great in crunch time. But he is young and will no doubt continue to improve. Everything else he does though is phenomenal. But come on you have to admit he did not look that great in the lane when several times he came up a foot short. I counted 3 air -balls form close range in the last 2 games. That is closer to Aminu than MJ or Kobe

What makes Toronto's offense "Way better" than ours? Kawhi? What I saw was a lot of ISO ball that fans like to complain about from Stotts.
Kawhi often went 1 on 3 and to his credit often found open shooters on the perimeter. When they hit the wide open 3 they looked good and when they didn't it looked bad. How is that offensive philosophy different? What did Nurse draw up that that was "Way Better". "Here Kawhi take the ball and do something"

Yes they have better defenders. I already acknowledged that. Not sure about the no-name part though when you have two past ALL NBA Players of the Year starting for you. But I was strictly responding to the post that said both offenses were so much better than the Blazers.
I did not see anything special in this series. Of course that happens when you play the same team so many times in a row.

I just think the team isn't in a great position money wise for roster improvements. they will be fine and make the post season but a legit championship caliber is still on the horizon.

who is convinced Portland will "suck"?...straw man?

so if somebody looks at circumstances and concludes:

    * Nurkic will probably miss close to half of the season and the half he does play he won't be at the level he was this season; maybe not even close

    * Curry will likely be gone

    * at least one of Hood/Kanter might be gone, and possibly even both

    * Aminu might not be back, maybe for tax reasons

looking at all that and thinking that Portland might regress next season is the same as thinking they will "suck"? There is some reasonable middle ground on this...it's not a matter of extremes
