    Eye of the beholder? :dunno:

Well, just, a look at that girl with the lights comin' up in her eyes.
She's got to be somebody's baby.
    She must be somebody's baby.
All the guys on the corner stand back and let her walk on by.

She's got to be somebody's baby.
    She must be somebody's baby.
She's got to be somebody's baby.
    She's so fine.

    She's probably somebody's only light.
    Gonna shine tonight.
Yeah, she's probably somebody's baby, all right.

I heard her talkin' with her friend when she thought nobody else was around.
She said she's got to be somebody's baby; she must be somebody's baby.
Cause when the cars and the signs and the street lights light up the town,

    She's got to be somebody's baby;
    She must be somebody's baby;
She's got to be somebody's baby.
    She's so

She's gonna be somebody's only light.
    Gonna shine tonight.
Yeah, she's gonna be somebody's baby tonight.

I try to shut my eyes, but I can't get her outta my sight.
I know I'm gonna know her, but I gotta get over my fright.
We'll, I'm just gonna walk up to her.
I'm gonna talk to her tonight.

Yeah, she's gonna be somebody's only light.
    Gonna shine tonight.
Yeah, she's gonna be somebody's baby tonight.
Gonna shine tonight, make her mine tonight.

She was beautiful. Just didn't think the star of the clock was up to par.

Well, @Orion Bailey, bravo - your argument is just so logical... but apparently I gave you the impression that I was somehow part of the squash championship and didn't like the prize. So now you're directing your opinion @Spud147 but I'm not now, nor will I ever be, able to speak for these women (or any other person for that matter) so there's no debate to be had with me here.

If you go back to my original post you see I'm trying to "womansplain" why these professional athletes took offense. I'm was trying to help a couple of the guys in the thread understand why these women were furious, again, not trying to be a militant feminist just trying to provide some clarity.

So what you should do is direct your completely rational, reasonable, and helpful etiquette guidance to the women who won the championship. Maybe write a letter and let them know that they are wrong about the way they felt and that the obviously correct way to act is to be a good girl and graciously accept the gift/prize no matter what it is. You've certainly convinced me and I'm sure these ladies are just as reasonable and would absolutely get in line as well when you so convincingly explain it like that.

Thanks and have a great day!

Exactly, it was meant to be a joke where you do all the work for me... you create the thing in your mind you would most hate receiving at work in front of a bunch of your peers.

It was my mic drop moment and I logged off for the holiday weekend but then the thread took on a life of it's own that was so not light hearted and funny.

Funny you should post this video. I just heard of this woman a few weeks ago and decided to check her music out to see if it was good. I believe this is the one where she is sitting on a couch with a guy and says the N word in the song.

I was actually going to start a thread on it at the time and see if people agree with me that it was gratuitous. It reminded me of a nude scene in the middle of a movie that was just thrown in.

Your reading more into it than there is because I quoted you....
Nobody called you a militant feminist. Taking this personal or something?

But thanks for the passive aggressive sarcasm. ;)

Seems like the best thing would have been for the ladies to assume the devices were intended for prostate stimulation and insert them where they would do the organizers the most benefit.

I just found her over the weekend. I download a lot of music on my iPod and I kept seeing the album cover. It's very striking but I didn't realize it was the actual artist on the cover. Anyway, I have all genres on my iPod so I get suggestions and this song was one of them so I listened to it and it lead me to the rest of her albums and I'm hooked.

She turns a lot of chauvinistic old school rap lyrics around in her stuff. And I did some research on her, she's always been plus sized and grew up feeling unattractive so now she's also an activist about body positivity. I think the nudity/sex scenes are meant to flip stereotypes as well. The album is all about female empowerment.

I'm not 100% sure but the picture/scene that's the screenshot resembles a picture on a hair product I remember seeing in stores in the 70s. It is very familiar to me but I can't quite place it.

Nope, not taking it personally, just responding to a discussion I'm not interested in because there was a direct @Spud147. The topic had gone weirdly sideways and I was somehow being brought into a discussion I wasn't a part of. So I wanted to make my opinion clear and that is, you don't get to decide how anyone else feels about something (no matter how logical your opinion is) because you're not them.

And was I being passive aggressive? I just meant to be aggressive, my bad.

I thought she seemed talented and I got the body positivity message...I don't think anyone could miss that.

I just quickly wondered if the N word wasn't in there because of some corporate producer wanting it there. Didn't seem necessary.

I thought of Adele adding beeeeitch to her songs.

I almost downloaded some of her songs because I have multiple genres on my phone too. I just thought it sounded overproduced from my admittedly small exposure to her.

I figured out the exact line you are talking about and what she does is flip "male dominance" around and the video shows her catching the couch guy looking another woman on instagram... she says something like N-word "don't make me take your beeeitch" (or chick) in the clean lyrics.

It's a lot of woman/diversity empowerment stuff, might not be your thing, but try listening to "Good as Hell", "Boys", and "Like a girl" for a bigger sample. "Juice" is going to be one of those summer anthems that is just joyful and it's going to be huge but she also has an amazing voice that shines on other songs.

Fair enough. However. I do get to say how others should feel. Its called freedom of speech and they are free to disagree.

Of course you can throw your opinion about how others should feel out in the world. You are correct, it's your right. But that's not going to change the way other people feel and it also doesn't make your opinion valid or useful. Because, really, do you think these athletes (or I) care what you think about how they should've felt and reacted in that moment?

These women weren't "furious" just to give you a topic to debate or disagree with, they were "furious" period. That's how they felt whether you agree with it or not. And they have the right to feel that way just like you have the right to your back assward unevolved logic. Exactly what our founding fathers were going for... Yay, 1st Amendment.

    Yay for the 1st!
Too bad that sucker is so costly!
It costs to keep it. It costs to use it.
No matter what side you are on, it costs some points when you use it. Funny how that rarely seems to slow anyone down though.
