If they want immediate relief, we can't. If they were were thinking more long term and willing to take expiring contracts, it might be possible.

Really, it was more hypothetical. In a top heavy draft, would you be willing to acquire another pick in the 20s? Some would say it would be a waste of resources. Some would argue that more picks = a better chance to hit that home run.

Contrary to what you might expect. I would do it. If you are going to go that route, then maximize your chances. Besides, there is something to be said for zigging when other teams are zagging. If they are selling low on draft picks, then try to be a buyer.

When a team is looking for tax relief it usually means they are trying to reduce or minimize tax immediately. Considering other than George, Westbrook, and Adams they don't have any deals past next year other than Schroder and rookie contracts so I find it hard to believe they'd give up a pick just to get out of one year of Schroder's contract.

I'm all for adding extra draft picks though.

    How about this idea?

    POR Gets:
    Larry Nance Jr.
    J.R. Smith (Waived, $3.8M guaranteed)

    CLE Gets:
    Evan Turner
    Gary Trent Jr.
    2020 1st Round Pick
    2020 & 2022 2nd round picks

That works even though Nance is on a Poison Pill contract. J.R. Smith counts as $14M salary for this year and next year, but can be waived before free agency starts and only counts as a $3.8M cap charge next year.

So Portland would save apx. $3.5M next year and would get a very good and underrated big in Nance, who fits very well with Collins. I like it.

I think Cleveland really likes Nance.

I would love to get Nance. I think he's being under-utilized and should be one of our primary targets.

I agree. I don't think Cavs do this.

Remember when Portland was trying to get Anthony Bennet a few years back?
I know most consider him a bust but I think that was mainly due to the Cavs picking him at 1 when he should never have been that high.
From just a quick eye test, he has improved a lot and can hit a open three at a pretty high clip (G-League Defense in mind). He actually has pretty good shot mechanics.
I'm thinking a faster Swanigan with a jump shot.
I wouldn't be surprised as he sounds like a typical Portland reclamation project. Would it be worth kicking the tyres again if they let Aminu walk?
I don't think he would be too expensive. What do you guys reckon? I know we don't have Jay Triano and that might have been one of the reasons we were interested.

Yes sirrrr been following him for a bit and I think he should get a training camp invite at the very least. He’s got a game that fits the modern NBA. Feels like he’s been blackballed or something. If he truly didn’t care, he wouldn’t be slumming it in the damn g league.

He's Canadian and the Raptors gave him a shot, so I don't think he's been blackballed.

Neil will make an offer for AD, won’t he?

It will be something like ‘whoever you want but Lillard, McCollum, Nurkic, Collins and Simons are off limits’.

And we'll hear in about 10-months that Portland was ever so close to landing AD in a trade.

We should definitely offer CJ+Collins+25+2021 1st for AD. That’s the kinda move that wins championships. Plus it is a decent trade for the Pelicans, adding CJ and Collins to Zion on Jrue is a good core.

I been watching some last year that got my DVR. One notice about Harkless especially in the playoffs he struggled around the rim but after watching about 5 regular season he was having the same problem I really think it time to trade him. He had good defense rating in regular season but not so much in the playoffs. It was decent after OKC series but Denver and Golden State can of destroy it.

    this is our best offer..

I guess it depends if NO wants a full rebuild with high picks or a retool with an established player like CJ and get Collins who is ready to break out

If I’m NO I’d go with established players as Zion should be ready to give 18+ a night already. Keeping Jrue and adding CJ Makes them a top 5 backcourt in the NBA.

Would you deal CJ, Hark, Turner, Leonard, and 25 for DeRozan, Aldridge, and Mills?
