Guys, I'm off work this Friday. Not sure if anyone can play on a weekday.

I'm working Sunday for a friend.

Leaving Friday afternoon to Hood River with my wife and kids to hopefully have a last little retreat before the new baby gets here, but if it’s earlier in the day Friday I could make it.

I'm going to Napa Valley tomorrow for my brother's wedding this weekend. But I wanna make one of these this summer! I know you guys assume I look just like Joel Przybilla, but the truth is that I'm about a foot shorter and a foot wider! Shocking, I know!

So been in the gym quite a bit since sunday. Running, doing agility drills (trying to figure out a good way to move without moving my knee too much is a unique challenge lol), and getting up shots, lots of shots practicing put more arc on my shot naturally so when we play out doors I wont be thinking about it.

Any of you guys have some fun drills I can do on my own?

Suggestion: Water Aerobics. Try aerobic exercise (about waist deep) in shallow water like a swimming pool.

Thats actually a good idea, the gym I go does have a pool that I basically never use.

Absolutely use the water. Reduces impact and gives consistent resistance for movement. front lunges. Side slide, Back pedal. All of it will work in the pool.

Im trying to figure out how to cut, and slide, and actually resemble some one who’s actually played basketball, but also I want to bend my right knee as little as possible. I think doing those things in a pool will help.
I literally dont think I can stay in front of a shadow right now, but past about a 20 degree bend my knee starts to lock up, and it hurts a lot. Hasnt stopped me from playing, but it has stopped me from playing well lol.

I ain't a doctor and i certainly don't know the condition of your knee but strength/resistance training is always the first thing on physical therapy agenda. The stronger the knee gets the better for everything you do. Even trying to move without bending. The idea you should be looking for is trying to avoid re-injury. But you still want some quality of life to go with it. Part of that would be making sure you don't just quit everything and gain weight making your knee have to work even harder doing just basic tasks. The more you move and keep in some kind of physical shape the better off you will be. You are now in the "If you don't use it you lose it phase".
Whatever works for you i wish you the best. Keep your head up and remember it is not about perfection. It's about improvement. Small incremental improvements will keep you healthy.

Why is your knee locking up? Did you have a previous injury?

I had a major knee injury 7 years ago, and I need to have surgery done on it. I gained quite a bit of weight since then, and since February(ish), Ive been working out pretty frequently, but its gotten a lot worse the last month and a half ish. After my wife has this kid, I will probably go on and let them do a knee replacement.

If you are going to exercise, then you should do it in the pool with water aerobics to displace the weight off your knee as much as possible.

I will, but since Ive been getting on a basketball court the last few months, my love for playing has definitely come back. I start feeling weird if Ive gone a few days without at least getting some shots up. Basketball is such a fun game.

Went to the park to shoot around and ended up filling in as 6th for a group of friends. Half court - my cardio is in fine enough shape for it. Are we putting a team together again this year? I’m in if there’s a spot open, game seems to be coming along smoothly.

Look forward to getting out with y’all again!

I'm still in for Sunday if anyone wants to play, but totally understand if you guys play Saturday without me.

If you guys don't want to play Sunday I'll probably just go play at 24 in Hillsboro in the morning.
