But theyve only done it once... they underachieved the two years prior. Who knows what they are at this point. We need to make serious upgrades this summer to establish ourselves.

Let’s say the Pelicans say “fuck your face with Phil Jackson’s cock mold” to Buss/Pelinka and trade AD elsewhere... what then?

Does LeBron ask for a trade? If he does... who is the best suitor? Who can offer the best package while retaining the ability to contend for a title?

I can't see any scenario in which LeBron asks for a trade. If he cared that much he wouldn't have signed with the Lakers last summer. He's gone Hollywood.

Just want to point out in the thread I made last week, I said on a few occasions I would've given the Blazers a B overall. Thats a lot higher than I would've given them last summer.

Really upgrade one of the forwards (it doesnt have to be AD), get Nurkic healthy and they could be dangerous. Im somewhat concerned it may take a while for Nurk to get right.

He also was under the assumption Magic would be there and that another all-star would be guaranteed.

Before Lebron decided where he was going to go, I figured if he went to the Lakers, to me that would mean winning is not his highest priority. There was no All Star there when he arrived. It doesn't mean he doesn't want to win, but the higher priority was being in LA, and he got a nice contract to be where he wants to be. He'll continue to play basketball and if the Lakers can't get their crap together so be it.

One possible scenario is that the Lakers write AD off and use their cap space elsewhere.

Another option is that AD follows Leonard's tactic and announces he will sit out the season rather than play for a team not of his choosing.

He also announced that if he wasn't traded he would sit out the next season as well.

Yeah, because they tried to play him when he was injured and downplayed his injury.

The point is, he was willing to invoke the nuclear option to get what he wanted - and it worked. As to whether it was justified...we'll never know for sure, but SA doesn't have a history of abusing players.

People outside Portland say the same about Dame. It's about priorities and happiness. The guy wants to be a foundational piece, not a guy who went somewhere chasing rings. He wants to be known as the guy who made the difference, built the culture. Not everyone is happy just by getting the biggest contract.

    Huh?

I mean, I guess that can be your assessment. Jeez, when did Michael Jordan win his first title? How far was he into his career? I remember those Bulls teams going through steps. First the Celtics were in their way. Then the Pistons. What serious upgrades did they make? Did it work out for them?

I mean, you might be right. I just think too many forum members have shifted into desperation mode, and the hyperbole here is strong right now.

If you can get AD for the right price, you do it. But you don't HAVE to do it.

Barring catastrophic injuries, the Blazers are going to contend, with or without AD.

People focus on being swept by Golden State. And yet we were in command in three of those four games. I don't think fans should overlook that. Part of the reason we are so disappointed is that we were doing the EXACT same thing to the Warriors that the Raptors did to the Warriors. We just didn't finish those games. We inexplicably didn't play the third quarter in any of those games. And you know what? I'm not sure Anthony Davis changes that.

They got Pippen through a draft day trade. From Central Arkansas. In 1987. For Olden Polynice.

That's a far cry from this major, earth-shattering move.

I'd love to see a fan of some other NBA team stumble onto our forum right now. They'd think we were losing it. We took another step forward when we weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs and half of our fan base is in panic mode.

It'd be like someone taking a normal cruise through the North Atlantic and jumping overboard because they heard there were icebergs.

We're behaving like the league is running away from us in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

They also replaced Oakley with Horace Grant. IIRC, many Bulls fans were unhappy at the time.
