Why do I torture myself by being so heavily invested in the possibility of the Blazers ever winning the championship?

No other teams were willing to mortgage the future for a one year rental. It was obvious that where he wanted to end up.

I think that's why they didn't take the deal last year. It was reported that Kuzma was included and also the three draft picks but I think they were worried that with James and Davis, the Laker draft pick would not be very good.

You're young. You still have time to learn to control your emotions.

We'll see. A lot of how this plays out, to me, depends on who the Lakers sign in free agency and how LeBron and AD's health holds up. Keeping Kuzma was a major win for the Lakers; if I was the Pelicans, I'd not made the deal unless it was Kuzma instead of Ball.

I remember when the Lakers got Payton and Malone and were supposed to be unbeatable. I remember when they got Steve Nash and were supposed to be unbeatable. I'll wait to see how personnel moves around the league play out before anointing them great again.

The Flakers were lucky to get that #4.
That was key in this trade.

I'm not the one openly admitting they feel tortured, Your petty response pretty much proves my point. :bgrin:

Every true Blazer fan should feel tortured. I know I do. I want the Blazers to win bad, yet know they probably won't anytime soon.

Well, i don't give up that easily and will still enjoy the Blazers. I want them to win as much if not more than anybody and i never felt there was a realistic chance to get Davis.

The NBA is built on torture and playoffs. Only 17 teams of the current 30 have won a championship in the last 50 years, 1969.
6 of those teams won once, the other 11 multi times.
Like NCAA March madness, its all about the tourney itself and the NBA is fantastic because of playoff fever.

Yep. They also have an aging LeBron that showed signs of breaking down last year and Davis has had injury issues throughout his career.

Either did I really. Bones did, so what. Leave him alone. No one said anything about giving up. You can be tortured and still enjoy watching your team.

It's still a one-year audition if the LA Times is correct.

"His agent, Rich Paul, told Sports Illustrated in March that Davis would be hitting free agency in 2020 no matter where he goes this summer. A person familiar with Davis’ thinking confirmed in June that 2020 free agency remains in Davis’ plans, effectively making this a one-year audition for the Lakers."

How does the salary situation look for the Blazers for the following (2020-2021) season? If it all falls apart in LA.
