Is a lineup of Conley, Mitchell, Ingles, Favors (they have to bring him back I think), Gobert better than what we can field out there? I like the balance. That's a decent package they gave up, though. Didn't think Conley had that kind of value with his contract.
My thought is that big moves that include one of the Blazers’ major competitors deserve a headline with their own thread to start with. Tidy them into the generic offseason thread after a few hours.
They gave up 3 late firsts for an all-star level point guard. Crowder is also a useful player, but somewhat irrelevant for Memphis's purposes. I'd venture to guess they'll trade Crowder at the deadline for a future second or something. That's a decent package for Conley, but it also sets the market for near-star level players. I don't think Conley is on a bad deal. It expires after next year, and he'll only be 32 at that point. Given his play-style, I can see him maintaining this level of play and getting another decent contract to close out his career.
This trade basically leaves them with a bad bench and about the same methods of improving it as we have money this summer.
Ιt's close I believe. They didn't care much about Conley's contract because it is expiring when they need to extend Mitchell so by then they ll have the money available to max him.
When you have the second pic in the draft with a potential star pg waiting for you, make a trade like this easier. Wonder what happens to Rubio?
Rubio/Mitchell/Gobert was only 3 wins worse than Dame/CJ/Nurk. You don't think Conley is worth 3 wins? He is much better than Rubio.
Also like what Memphis is building. Morant and Jackson is a helluva starting point. Another year or two in the lottery and they'll be back.
