not normally except maybe Collins, but hoping this year is different and instead of bpa go for the guy that commands respect on the D side of the ball.

Meh. He only works if you think he will be an actual 3-and-D guy. If he is just another good-motor-can't-shoot guy, then even in this draft we have a chance to do better.

The same could be said about Jason Kidd. Not to be contrarian, but we are talking a different style of play and a much different level of talent.

I predict that we will buy a 2nd rounder to get Jaylen Hoard. And I would love this move.

Obviously, there was an element of luck involved - but it seems the Blazers got it right by keeping the pick. I'm going to give Olshey the benefit of the doubt that he anticipated it was going to be a weird night and that some very respectable talent would be available in the mid 20s.

Looks like we got your man at a very cheap cost as we have signed him to a 2 way contract.

Kwahi Leonard wasn't a good 3 point shooter coming out of college (25% at the college line), but has developed into a very good one and clutch as well.

Hoard's future in Portland will depend on his defense. I know his shooting percentage is low from 3, but he has a good looking shot. Stotts and his staff have been very good at making poor shooters become decent and decent shooters become good. With a little coaching and a ton of shots with the assistants, he'll be a good shooter. He can create off the dribble and is a good passer.
I think the FO is hoping he can become Harkless/Aminu on defense with more diversity on offense. Even coming close to that would be a success for a non-drafted FA.

That's the thing I've always said about you, Sly. You have 20-20 hindquarters sight.
