I actually remember him now that I looked him up. I do remember wanting him as our backup PG too hahaha
As is there of Pargo assistant coaching. Some people here act like soccer moms when it comes to the Blazers.
I admit to being a horrible cynic, but I can't help but wonder if the preference for somebody more experienced isn't seen as some sort of diss on the head coach.
Big Razorback fan and love JPargo. Not sure he's ready for this but he can help our shooters, no doubt.
I like assist coaches who've played recently in the league...not far removed from the modern game. He coached the G league and one thing I know about Stotts is that he is as connected throughout coaching circles as any coach in the league.....Olshey as well...they know what his value is and with the results we've had developing players...I can only expect it to be a good move. Welcome to Portland Jannero! You landed a great gig!
No way to judge this without context. Is he the replacement for Vanterpool or is that coming via a promotion or another hire? He may just be a replacement for Blake.
The fact that he doesn't know anyyhing about him and that he doesn't have much coaching experience is why he doesn't like it, why is it so hard to understand. It's a perfectly resonable point.
I posted a link to his Wikipedia info...he has a resume...was known as a defensive pt guard...has experience in Europe and coaching in the G league ..Vanterpool worked with the guards...I'd say he'll be working with guards on defense most likely as Dave did.
He’s played under some good coaches, and Phil Jackson. I’m sure he’s picked up some knowledge over his 15 year career.
I'm curious if he ever was part of a team coaching defense/offense against the Warriors and how did that team perform.
