Not really. I joke that, he and Von Wafer are the only players in all my years that were jerks to me. And Raef was just because Steve Blake and I were talking about his NCAA championship at Maryland. I looked at Raef and asked if while at Kansas they were ever ranked #1 going into March Madness...... he lost his mind and started going off on me for not knowing his college resume. Blake was like, "DAMN!" And Von looked at my shoes on the plane once and said, "Them shits is garbage!" Like he was offended by my shoes. Only two dudes that were rude to me ever.
yeah but you forgot to mention they are the ONLY 2 dudes to ever talk to you at all! Gotta love the offseason!
I’m curious... what kinda shoes were they? Those god awful Sebastian Telfair T-Mac shoes he used to wear?
Ah, it was no big deal. Von was gone before that road trip was even over......and Raef apologized later. Other than that, dudes have all been cool, even the leftover jail blazers that were still around when I showed up. Probably helped that I grew up with Stoudamire, and he introduced me to all the guys my first road trip.
I was fearful every time Oden jumped for a rebound or Rasheed got mad at a Ref or ET took a 3 or whenever Ruben Patterson called himself the “Kobe Stopper” before a Lakers game.
Moses Malone was a Blazer for a while, so I can say I always feared him when he played Portland. I think he had something like 10 offensive rebounds against Portland one time, and he put every one of them in the basket plus about four and+1's. It was insane.
To this day I want to desecrate the graves of the people behind that deal. "Hey, I know! Let's save a few bucks and gamble our future on Walton's health! What could go wrong? Now pass the gin."
Evan Fucking Turner. Thinks of himself as a cross between George Gervin and LeBron James. I've never in my life cringed so much as when he goes to check in. It's the most painful thing I've ever gone through as a Blazer fan. The biggest problem is if he just played to involve others he'd be a great value player. Stats prob show that he is anyway BUT he takes awful shots a the worst times.
I honestly had a feeling of dread when we drafted Oden. I was all on board for him before the draft and once it happened, I feared he would have injury problems. Same when the Ducks got Bol. I’m getting the same feeling with Zion.
Blazer who seriously creeped me out was Sasha Djorgevic (probably not spelling that correctly). I have no problem with a person from any country on Earth. But he wasn't just Serb, he was explicitly Serbian nationalist. In an interview in Rip City magazine he flashed Serbian nationalist hand signs and talked of all the fun they had racing around the country. Doing what? This was just a few years after the civil war when thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of Croatians and Bosnians were massacred and tens of thousands of women and barely pubescent girls held in rape camps. They were exactly what the word means. Women and girls were held captive and repeatedly raped, and since abortion was legal through the first 6 months of pregnancy, any who became pregnant were held until the seventh month. When Djorgevic, or however you spell it, started going on about Serbian nationalism this wasn't your ordinary home country patriotism. I was very glad when he was gone.
I know we had Sasha Pavlovich...don't remember this other Sasha...will look it up. Pavlovich went down with foot plantar problems and rarely played...if it's him, it sure changes my view of the guy
found him....Sasha Djordjevic….drew a complete blank on him...must have been overseas during his time in Portland. @crandc
I fear every young player Portland trades away, because of Jermaine O'Neal. Christ, I've probably seen 30 guys under 25 get traded or dropped, and with every one of them it lingers in the back of my head.
