Green font? When did he ever say he'd sacrifice winning for this? Wasn't Ed Davis' leaving worse than everyone else who's left or been traded? He even said publicly that he wanted to keep Ed but hasn't complained at all about his absence.
I'm not complaining man, i'm happy he gone, but we could use a playmaking guard or someone who can create his own shot. Hood was so valuable because he could score 1on1, Kanter could score 1on1 which made live for Dame and CJ a lot eayier. If we lose these guys creation is a problem, that doesnt mean that i'm not happy with the trade
Its just funny to me that the dude who blasted (much of it deserved) ET all season long is now saying it could be a mistake to trade him because we need his "skillset" (for lack of a better word).
We can sign a point guard for the minimum that could dribble the ball up the court and throw it into the fourth row, I’m not pressed about it.

Maybe, maybe not. Look I have always been CJ's biggest fan on this board but from day one I always felt Terry made a mistake by having CJ run the point. This year he did it less and I think he played better. Just my opinion. I do not want them to make the same mistake with Simons. Especially at his young age. Let him ease in to that role. This will basically be his 1st year playing, let him start out by doing what he does best....shooting. But you are right I am not in practice so I could be completely wrong. (Really doubt though)
They have a young team. We have/had a young team that by all accounts Turner was a big part of (locker room wise.) They also don’t have a backup point guard. Seems like they wanted to do Bazemore a favor as well and put him on a good team.

The idea of trading Turner alone for a clear upgrade seemed impossible; his struggles were too clear, and thanks to his four-year, $70 million contract, all the more visible. Portland pulled it off, if largely by being in the right place at the right time. Of all the possible reasons this trade could have materialized, changes in Atlanta’s situation seem the most relevant. If the Blazers could have moved Turner at no real cost, they likely would have years ago. What prompted this deal was a match: a nearly identical salary, and a Hawks team looking to find Bazemore a new basketball home. The Blazers are a better team for it. Turner and Bazemore come to the game quite differently—the former as a point forward and the latter as more of a classic supporting wing. It’s not a one-for-one replacement in terms of on-court responsibility, but Portland gets the better shooter, cutter, defender, and athlete in the exchange. Any trade-offs are negotiable as Portland builds out its roster for next season. Swapping Turner for Bazemore was always plausible. What’s unexpected is that it didn’t cost Portland so much as a second-round pick to get a deal done.
