Good. People keep wanting to throw Trent into the deal -- or any deal -- when he's played one year of college and one year of the NBA like they know what he's going to be. We actually have reports that our FO sees him as part of the future nucleus of the team with Ant, Zach, Nas and Nurk.
Way late to the party here (work travel) but was told by a member of the Hawks' front office a few years ago, in person, that they viewed Baze as an untradeable cornerstone of their franchise and an up-and-coming star. Obviously that didn't pan out as they'd hoped, but at one point they were THAT high on the guy not that long ago. I'm beyond amazed that we got him for ET without giving up any other assets. Another win for Neil!
Finally someone says it. Trent’s already been tossed aside by a part of the fanbase. Have to remember he’s the same age as Simons and Olshey had them graded similarly. I think he’s going to be good. He’s already got an nba body. We’ll see tho.
He's gotta figure out how to be less of a chucker in this offense -- I think that's the reason most fans dismiss him. He's either gonna have to fit into the system or be our 11th man that you only put in when you're down 20...
And this is the part of "he's played one year of college and one year in the NBA" that people don't seem to get, and it drives me crazy. Some people act like he's a freaking 8-year vet who is being overpaid.
It's like hearing the first three bars of a song you've never heard before and turning off the radio.
To be pedantic: we need somebody with the skillset Olshey thought he saw in ET after several hours of munching on peyote smothered in sour cream and that (illegal) French cheese with all the maggots in it. As you might gather, I kinda like the trade!
Idk how we can label him anything when he literally has not seen one minute in non mop up duty yet. Who knows how he’d play in a more structured setting.
