No kidding. Dude was the starting SF for a Hawks team that went 60-22. He's a big upgrade over ET.

No he wasn't. Demarre Carroll was.

Baze was the starter on the 48 win Hawks team the next year.

Excuse me he was the SG for the 60-22 Hawks.

Carroll is trash and on his way out of the league.

Trent? Summer League will tell if things slowed down for him. The game was too fast for him in even in garbage time.

No, Korver was (he made the all star team that year). Baze played 17 MPG on the 60 win team as a backup.

if last season playing injured is an anomaly, then his lowest percentage shooting the corner three was 41% over the previous 4 seasons with atlanta, with a high of 43.6%. will likely look a lot better than ET taking that shot.
edit: for comparison on converting on corner three attempts last season
    ET 22.2%
    Mo 28.9%
    Chief 35.6%

I've watched him play a few games in high school, most of his games at Duke, G-League games last year, Summer League last year, and garbage time in the NBA. Dude doesn't pass. He's about as big of a black hole as you can get.

I'm not saying he can't improve that or that his scoring ability isn't a good skill to have but c'mon man don't try to pretend he notices anyone else on the court with him.

Who's doing that, though? The point some of us are trying to make is that he CAN improve.

I'm amazed sometimes how we keep winning around 50 games per year when I continue reading about how bad 90 percent of our roster is. It's unbelievable considering how the roster of every other team in the NBA is comprised almost entirely of perfect players who always make the right pass, always take good shots, always make the right move on defense, and every player they draft always performs to their ceiling immediately.

Been reading some posts from the Atlanta side.
They are calling this a trade move for Bazemore. There is a feeling that Atlanta was trying to take care of him and find him a place to play on a contender. There are very few that don't see Turner as a limited player and a downgrade from Bazemore.
One interesting comment was about Bazemore's injury last year hampering his shot. That would explain the drop in percentage from three point.
The Blazers might have got much better here. Certainly if he returns to his 2018 numbers.

Sure, he definitely can. I just don't like what I've seen so far in terms of team oriented play. Dude can get shots off though, it's a useful skill.

I wasn't happy at all when we gave up two 2nd rounders to get him though. One of those picks would've been the 40th pick this year. The other was Miami's in 2021 which could end up being pretty good too.

Guys still on the board if we still had that pick:
    Bol Bol
    Eric Paschall
    Admiral Schofield
    Jalen McDaniels
    Talen Horton Tucker
    Kyle Guy

I'm not saying any of those guys are necessarily better though and I'm pulling for Trent to expand his game.

sure, he "can" improve....every single player is capable of that, especially a young player

after their rookie seasons, you could have said:

    Ha Seung Jin can improve
    Sergei Monia can improve
    Taurean Green can improve
    Josh McRoberts can improve
    Victor Claver can improve
    Armon Johnson can improve
    Elliot Williams can improve
    Meyers Leonard can improve
    Caleb Swanigan can improve

it's just a boiler plate statement that means next to nothing.

All we can go on right now is what we've seen so far and Hoopsjock is right, all Trent has shown is that he's a chucker. Per36 he only scored 13 points on 16.2 shots; that sucks. He had the 3rd highest FGA rate on the team behind Dame and CJ but was 17th on the team in TS%, just ahead of Swanigan. He was also 17th on the team is assists/36. There is nothing there that is encouraging

now, it's true: he's still very young and he shot extremely well from the FT line in college and hit 40% of his three's from the college 3 point line, so you'd expect he can show a little better as he matures. But he's going to have to improve a ton to really make a difference. Right now, his 'upside' might be if he can get on the Layman trajectory, but some player that might be a sometimes rotation player two years from now isn't somebody to worry about

There’s nothing to take away from garbage time. Nothing. This is a ridiculous conversation. All I know is Olshey really likes him. Odds are in his favor.

Did you just list the same Kyle Guy that averaged a full .2 assists more than Gary Trent Jr. over his college career? Admiral Schofield less as well. And THT a full assist more.

Trent is a black hole but they aren’t?

    You can’t make this up.

The other thing i'm wondering is if Bazemore isn't a target of another team that might want him that has a player the Blazers are targeting?
Enough people are saying that Portland probably isn't done that it's making me do mental gymnastics about the possibilities?
