Its not lateral is we only get outscored by 5 points (or less!) per 100 possessions with Bazemore on the court. Seems likely.

I agree Turner brought the intangibles. He was a solid player but had no 3 pt shot. Not a good fit for Terry's offense. He was brought in to play with Dame and CJ not behind them though. If Terry was not going to use him as a "3rd ball handler" then Neil needed to trade him out for a better shooter. Easier to find a true back up PG for the 2nd unit. They are not getting Hood and they needed a wing who can shoot. Not a lateral move for this team IMO

I wasn't a big Trent fan before the draft, but, personally, if he were in this draft, I'd have selected him before any of the players you listed with the exception of Bol and Paschall. No one expected Bol to be there, he's coming off an injury and has serious concerns about his strength, but his upside is hard to ignore.

Paschall is kind of like Trent -- a role player who has a shot of sticking.

The difference is Trent's a guy, like we both say, who can get off his own shot. I think that's the single most important skill in basketball. So I give him an edge, just based upon that. It's harder to find good shot-creators and shot makers than it is 6-7 guys who D-out.

I don't mind Trent, I just didn't like giving up 2 picks to get him. I'm actually glad we didn't have to include him in this ET trade. I'm surprised we didn't.

Nope. Kyle Korver was the starting SG (and an All Star) for the 60-22 Hawks.

Guy didnt dominate the ball as much though. He was almost primarily a catch amd shoot guy and straight line driver. CJ is more of a black hole than Allen Crabbe, even though he averages more assists.

LOL. First, every single one of the guys you mentioned had a longer resume coming into the NBA than Trent, except maybe Ha ... quite honestly, putting Ha on this list is almost an insult to everyone. The guy wasn't even a lottery ticket, he was a shot in the dark. Armon Johnson? Really? Please. And Elliot Williams was coming off a catastrophic injury.

Considered a borderline lottery pick much of the year before he actually was drafted, Trent was a better prospect than any of the other guys you listed other than perhaps Meyers and Claver. Meyers' prospect status was elevated by the fact that he was 7-feet tall and hadn't played much basketball, giving him what people saw as untapped potential.

I mean, I guess you can pick apart and judge him on the mop-up time he played. I think that's pretty silly, but it reflects on your judgment, not mine, so have at it. I mean, the Layman comparison is absolutely ridiculous. You are saying Trent's upside is that of a guy who played FOUR years in college and took THREE years to get to be part of an NBA rotation. You're comparing a guy who is 20 with a guy who is 25. Trent's freshman year at Duke significantly outperformed any of Layman's seasons at Maryland and it was considered a freaking disappointment. As a rookie, Trent outperformed either of Layman's first two years, and Layman became a rotation guy in his third year.

There's pretty much one hole in the guy's game: He doesn't pass enough. For a 20-year-old, it's pretty good that people can fixate on one thing and kill him over it, especially when he can create quality shots for himself and shoots the ball well.

Get with the program. The narrative is how Trent is horrible. Reality doesn't matter.

Frees up ball handling minutes for Ant, replicates some of the offensive qualities of Hood, with someone who has a defensive motor/loves the chase-down block. I think there is enough difference in play styles that even if it is lateral, there will be new synergies.

ET wasn't my favorite Blazer, but Aminu is the one who shortens my life span. I swear one of these days I'm going to have an actual stroke when Chief takes off dribbling up the court into the teeth of the defense.

Bazemore shot 32% from three last year.

And .394 the year before that.

He'll bounce back next year, when he's healthier and on a better team.

Baze is also a very good defender, better than Turner IMO, so there's also that.

Career 35%. Let's see how he fits. Still not convinced this is anything more than rearranging deck chairs
