Nice move by Olshey and it appears it is the TPMLE which starts at around 5.7mil and the second year at around 6 mil. Very much a bargain and adds more flexibility to this roster. Olshey likely got word that Kanter will require much more money and possibly the news is good that Nurkic will be back sooner than many think.

Starting 3. Baze will be the 6th man backing up the 2/3 imo

I think Simons is the 6th man over Baze

I hope that’s true, if he progresses that fast we won’t be resigning CJ. I just doubt Terry puts those kinda minutes on a 20 year old. Plus I picked Baze cause he can play the 2 and 3 not just in the backcourt, we will see though.

IMO it is not a question of who is better but who is more useful for the two different units. If Baze really is willing to do the "dirty work" then he needs to start along side Dame and CJ. Hood is an effective "go to" so it seems to me that he is better suited with the 2nd unit. Who finishes is a different story. I am guessing that will vary each game.

If he was legit thinking about retiring because he hated basketball, and Portland turned that around for him, I could see why he would take less money.

It is a shocker for sure. I sure didn't see it coming. I think he needed to get the best possible deal. Maybe no one else was interested but looking at some of these other contracts, I find that hard to believe too. He jumped on this real fast so I think he took the minimum just to stay with the Blazers. Maybe with a verbal agreement that we would give him more next year after he opts out?

He also had only a very short period of rehabbing his image. He may have been able to squeeze out another 1-3 mil/year elsewhere this offseason. If he has another solid year, he can look to pad that 3-8mil/year.

Honestly think it should and will be the other way around. Baze is a better defender and hustle guy, Hood is more of a scoring threat for whenever Dame and CJ aren't in the game together.

    Exactly.
He hunted uncontested rebounds and got to them before his teammates

I don't see Harkless as a backup. Not while Stotts is coaching.
