I hope the new situation is everything he needs. Sometimes things just don't fit for whatever reason. The talent and desire are there. He always represented this franchise well. I hope he makes his mark in Miami.
great finals, shit rest of everything. he seemed like a great teammate tho, just no need for a guy who spent 90% of his time here wanting to be a 7'1" SG
They are celebrating this over on Heat's Reddit. They seem to think they got a "good perimeter defender and a decent Big." LMFAO, wut? They are in for a rude awakening, and our PnR is going to be a nightmare to defend against.
Atlanta wanted Evan Turnover as a backup ballhandler quasi PG playmaker skills..... lol wut? Miami think they get a great perimeter defender in Meyers seriously, do none of these teams watch tape? i mean, im glad they dont..... but holy wow.
Meyers pulled off something pretty cool...built big trade value in the last series of the playoffs on the National stage....couldn't have asked for more from the big kid.....he's going to have a good career and in the east, he'll get there quicker....wish him well. Just leave the fans with this one last pic
It'll transition into his next career as a beach volleyball amateur spiker...you know he loves Top Gun for that
I am one of the biggest Nard's haters ever. First several years of his career I hated watching this man play for the Blazers. Never wished an injury on him like many did/have/do but I never wanted to see him get actual playing time. Every time he'd get on the court he'd make a basic mistake and I want to hit him with the bench. Stotts did at times, and other times he didn't. the 17-18 season is when he started to look like a legit NBA role player. Did it take him so long because two years in a row after Aldridge left he was rehabbing injuries? idk I will say, as soon as I saw video starting to come out that he was working against NBA talent(Embiid) during the summer. Meyers Leonard started to look like an NBA role player in NBA games. I understood why he didn't get more minutes during the 17-18 season. Ed Davis was clearly the better player. Portland gave Nards a chance going into the 18-19 season and he didn't disappoint. Sure he made mistakes and had boneheaded plays. But this man played defense switching onto guards sometimes winning and forcing a bad shot. This man didn't let the outside naysayers change how he played. I understood why Kanter was picked up off the buyout market, and took Nard's minutes. Clearly Kanter was the better player, can't pass up on a player like that. But it had nothing to do with Nards and how he was playing. The guy was playing well on both ends, while limiting his mistakes. Guy went from having zero trade value and injury prone. To one of the more consistent bench players Portland had. Meyers Leonard has a role in the NBA and will get a 3rd contract from someone. Will it be 4 years 40mil+? I find it doubtful as the Center market is full of good role playing bigs like Meyers Leonard.. But the last two years(last year especially) he earned his contract.
