Not exactly, we couldn't offer him that deal anymore so if money was equal I think he would've chose Portland but we had already moved on.

Guys, this statement is so fuckin obvious joke and how you don't get it is out of this world. Seems like 'Mericans got completely different sense of humor. Enes is a fun guy. It's so embarrassing when you have to explain you joking to adults. Of course 5mil is dif than 1.7 and Dame ("I was there" with 50mil/y) probably knows it:) Kanter went with funy storry as he always does.
I like him, he really got serious things to think about outside of NBA. Good luck to him. Great dude.

How about this for another idea that would work along the same lines?
Maybe this is a way Kanter can get paid and then be traded for later? Maybe even deadline?

Next time, when someone tells you: "I couldn't stop them, there was millions of them" you speak tru and say "I was there, ain't tru, it was 147"
He basically said time given was to short for him.

I thought about that before free agency but why would Boston be interested in that and we don't need Kanter anymore.

What about if Kanter sucks in Boston. If Nurk is back by the deadline and Boston needs a legit defensive center we trade Whiteside for Gordon Hayward.

Thanks for posting that. What I love about it is confirmation Dame is actively involved in these personnel decisions. Most the time I believe it's just lip service from management/ownership/star players alike, but it sounds very much like Dame was truly in the circle with his tie half un-done pacing back and forth and deliberating the pros and cons of such and such. I can see the argument where players have no business being involved, but I think with basketball it's a little different where half the battle is getting your star players to buy in and give a fuck. Actually, giving them a voice or just being present in the room seems a pretty good tactic for raising a player's interest or even devotion in the team.

This place would explode (Not in a good way) if the Blazers went after Gordon Hayward. Not sure why all the hate but for some reason just the mention of it seems to draw negative comments? But i wouldn't mind seeing him here?

Yeah, you go ahead and give up millions of dollars. Unfortunately, in our capitalistic nation those millions may never be able to be garnered. Can't fault a guy for getting the best deal he could get. 6 mins isn't a lot of time to make that decision.

As much as I wanted Enes to stay ... and it looks like we could have retained him ... I'm not unhappy with how it worked out. Whiteside's a top-notch rebounder and defender. He sets great screens from the little I've seen. He finishes with authority. And it's a one-year deal. But his track record is he is going to make more of an impact over the course of the season than Meyers and Mo would have combined.

And then we have another open roster spot, so you factor that into this deal. If Olshey can do what he did around the trade deadline last year with this opening, it might not be hitting it out of the park, but it's at least an extra-base hit.

    Really? Like... really?

2-3 million is always 2-3 million. I'd move to Boston for a year for 3 million more than another team can offer.

Yeah, but you grew up in a culture that puts a lot of value to that. And $3 million to your or me is a lot more than $3 million is to a guy who already has made $100 million and still is going to be making several million this year regardless of where he signs.

    It's all relative.

    No... No I didn't.

I was raised and it is ingrained in me that piece of mind is much more valuable than money.
That you work to live not vice versa.

Looking at a bigger picture (it's only really a 1 year deal) and understanding that you can get a much bigger payday for doing the same work gives piece of mind.

3 million is always 3 million and some of these guys bills are that much a year.

My mistake for making the assumption that you were raised in the United States.

I agree with you that peace of mind is more valuable than money. However, you conflate the two because you are saying money is what gives you peace of mind.

That's typical American philosophy of life right there. That money is the key to everything. So you rationalize that money is important to everyone by rationalizing that money is important to you.
