agree, the way he is engineering the roster he's got a lot of flexibility even before the deadline or going into next season.
Laymans salary could've been very useful in matching salary in a trade at the deadline and I don't think Portland would've had any trouble moving off of it if they matched.
Maybe, but wouldn’t you rather have a PG and a big with our last two roster spots than yet another SF?
Once again, now 49 minutes later and no moderator has been able simply fix the thread title. Not a big deal but it never ceases to amaze.
his number for the TPE doesn't make sense. If Jake is getting an 11.5M deal with 5% raises, the TPE should be over 3.5M
He was our best option for backup PF and we gave him away to a divisional rival. All that to sign a guard who won't play? We have 3 players that can play PG and according to some posters, Hezonja can handle that role as well.
Maybe I am alone on this, but I never got the Layman love? He had about 2 weeks of NBA level basketball in him last season and not much else. I wish him well, but easily replaceable.
I think we will have to wait and see how this turns out. I don't personally like it right now, but maybe Neil wanted to butter Bartelstein's bread for a possible deadline deal.
This move is pretty clearly about investing in the talent/development of Little and Hezonja while also doing well by Jake. After being nearly out of the league, he's going to have an opportunity to build on the success he had last year that he likely wouldn't have had here. Best of luck to him.
[QUOTE="riverman, post: 4780327, member: 27997"....this means Little will play to me[/QUOTE] He is still way down the depth which IMO is why we let Jake go as well. We have 5 guys in Baze, Hood, Mario, Collins, and Skal who will probably see time at forward over Little. (and previously Jake) Throw in Tolliver who has experience and size (@ 250 ) and the release of Jake seemed inevitable. None the less I am not happy seeing him go. Little will have to wait his turn too.
No we can't. We're over the tax apron so we're not allowed to bring a player in with a sign and trade.
We’ve got a year to use it. The Blazers may not be over the apron or even the LT by this time next year.
