you might want to clarify that the Blazers can trade for a player(s) using the TPE, just no S&T and you'll probably have to answer it 7 or 8 times going by the way things go around here. I mean, doesn't Portland still have their tax-MLE?
I’m not clear what the point of this was. We can’t do much with the TPE. It’d have made more sense if it was for the full amount of Jake’s salary.
He was talking about specifically doing the same thing Minnesota just did. Next summer if we're under the cap the TPE would go bye bye anyway. We can use it to bring in a player that wasn't a free agent this summer and fits into the amount.
It should be noted that we might seem stacked at SF right now, but Mario, Bazemore and Hood are expiring after this season is over.
can't do much with a 1.8 TPE but I'm still questioning where the hell that number came from. I'm thinking it should be north of 3.5M, which is a usable TPE
I have a career kid. Work for a living. Don't really have time to try to be the "first to do anything" around here to be honest.
Ok, I just have to point out that this is a ridiculous amount of turnover. Tolliver says he’s excited about joining “a contender,” but when you lose seven players in the off-season, are you even the same team anymore? We were contenders with those seven players, but what are we without them? Who knows.
You know what dumping Jake for Hezonja reminds me of? Dumping Connaughton for Stauskas. I heard so many arguments about how we were a much better spot for Stauskas than his previous spots, and how our system would make him a useful player while Pat would struggle elsewhere because our system helped him out as well. Connaughton was great for Milwaukee last year and Stauskas' numbers here were NO BETTER than any other stop on his journey. Now Stauskas is on his way out of the league.
Everyone knows we're a much better team than last year. None of the "players" that left can consistently hit a 3 pointer, except for one who didn't know where he was half the time. Opposing teams ignored them to double our guards in a literal attempt to suck the life out of them. It worked, Lillard was crazy tired in the 2nd round, and was simply exhausted in the WCF.
No. Wouldn't be worth $1.8M anyway. We got a full TPE for Vonleh. I just chalk it up to Dwight being bad at math.
My understanding is you get the TPE for what he was on your books, not what the new team signed him for in the trade. According to Mario, he was 6'6", 195 when he was drafted and is now 6'9", 240 lbs. That is 25 lbs he's got on Jake who is listed at 215. Not saying Hezonja is a PF but that's quite a bit of difference. Hezonja has filled out quite a bit in that last couple of years.
