Agreed, not the answer I'd hope for. OTOH, it looks like my SGotF prediction is looking better and better.
You (not literally you) gotta be dumber than a box of rocks to pay Dame 50 mill per year in his age 38-42 seasons. After his next contract is up, there is no way he gets a long term contract even near 50 mill. I would look at Dirk as an example for how To phase out a legend.
Whenever I watched Simons last year, which I think I read was 141 minutes, he always seemed like a bit of a chucker as opposed to a play maker. Not sure if that was just due to playing in garbage time and trying to make an impression but I’d need to see a lot more of him before I trust him to run the offense. He oozes talent though. Would be nice if he grew a bit more and could be a SG.
I don't know why we're fighting it.... Dame isn't going anywhere. CJ is the obvious spot that he would take.
Just look at his hair. Look at his face. That's the look of a modern PG Assassin ... !!! Give the young man a chance. He will be throwing darts to his buddy Little
Rondo has a terrible attitude, no way do I want him here. I'm fine leaving the roster spot open at 4th string PG. I think Simons will be fine as the backup, CJ third string. If Simons can't handle it make a move then for a backup. I'd prefer preseason and 5-10 games before we make that move. The problem with bringing in another PG now is it has to be someone willing to accept DNP and Simons growth. But if Simons really struggles then instead we probably want a more established backup who can give us dependable productivity. I suppose an Earl Watson type from his one season here would fit both criteria. It is hard to find a good player for such a tiny role. Again that's why I'm fine rolling with what we have now and change in the season if need be.
The thing is — nearly every single one of Rondo’s teammates has loved him. In the CP3 beef, pretty much everyone said CP3 is a horrible teammate and Rondo is amazing. Just sayin.
What about the 14 teammates on Dallas when he refused to play in the playoffs? Just sayin, the drama is not worth it for our 4th string PG and I don't believe he would happily accept that role.
Seth wasn't a PG either though. He averaged 0.9 APG last year with an Asst/TO ratio of 1.1/1 which pales in comparison to even Chief who owned a 1.4/1 ratio. Even Jake Layman's Asst/TO ratio was better. Of course that is not all there is to running a team but Seth a PG wasn't any great shakes last year which is why Turner ended up doing it for much of the season for the 2nd unit. Turnerover/Curry vs Hezonja/Simons? One of those is the much more veteran but in terms of overall better? Turner couldn't shoot to save his life and was ripe for a turnover at the most inopportune time. Curry could shoot it to be sure but really didn't get up many shots for as well as he shot and giving his lack of passing, was quite the chucker. To put it in this odd perspective, Curry averaged 1.7 A/36. Gary Trent averaged 1.6. Yuck!
yeah, maybe I'm recalling things wrong, but it sure seems that after Rondo got the rep of a douche as a Celtic, he's had nothing but rave reviews from his teammates, and even coaches. The issue is his weakness as a floor spacer. But as a floor general and teammate, he seems pretty high level he'd be good insurance for Portland but I'd imagine he's headed to one of the LA teams if he signs a minimum deal
He different then Seth due to Seth is more spot up shooter and occasionally went the rack. Plus he hard time taking people off the dribble. Simons is more complete due he can take people off the dribble to get to his spots plus he can score all 3 levels. Defensively is where Seth over Simons at this time but see how that works in the future for Simons.
I like rondo I think he what he is floor general but he puts players in position for them to score easier. Plus he can score when needed he sure scorch our ass last year.
