https://clutchpoints.com/blazers-news-neil-olshey-says-jusuf-nurkic-could-be-out-until-february/ Well, that sucketh. As an aside, though... Yes, the Blazers were swept. That's true. However, if memory serves, they led by double-digits in the 2nd half of every one of those games. I don't see that as being "completely dominated." But, whatevahs.
I don't think so. Frankly it is a good time table. Lets us integrate some of the new pieces and then we bring back Nurk for the second half of the season.
I think we’ll see Nurk towards the end of next season but wont see a Nurk that resembles what we remember him as (as a player) until 20-21 season. Might be wrong but I think its gonna take a while for him to adjust, for the game speed to slow down again, for him to really trust it and not think about it.
Yeah I'm not expecting him to be his old self at all next season. Look at Gordon Hayward last year or Paul George his first season back, they were shadows of their old selves. Maybe Nurk can give 15minutes of useful play off the bench when we get to the playoffs by April. But we should plan on him being of little to no use this season, and pleasantly surprised if he gives us anything more.
I heard the other day the Blazers actually led more minutes in that Warriors series than they trailed.
Did anyone actually read the article? The author did not talk to Olshey. There is no quote from Olshey about Nurk. It reads more like a forum post than an article.
During their SL game, Olshey said February. I believe that's where everyone's getting it. Edit: He was a guest during the game for a few minutes.
In 50+ years of following the NBA, I can think of very few times a team over-stated how long a player would be out.
Yeah i have the same thought. Nurkic is out next year and will be rehabbing still when he does play. Best bet for Nurkic will be 2020-21
They need to take their time. I don't want him to come back until he's 100%. Had enough of that shit with Oden. I'm willing to wait. We have Whiteside.
Nurk won't probably be in game shape all next season...no rush in my view...he should use the post allstar break to get back in the flow and build some chemistry with the new guys but we'll be fine......if he's ready by the playoffs....it'll be awesome
I always felt Christmas (which will be exactly 9 months after his surgery) was the very earliest he would return, but that after the all Star game was more likely. The last game they play before the break is around February 12th. (That is another 23-24 games) Thus the reason why Whiteside was so important. They still need one more big body in case of another injury.
I wasn't. My bet has always been all star break and spend the last part of the season getting him ready for the playoffs. Obviously no one knows for sure. That's why it's a bet
