True. We could end up being swept in the first round, if we even make the playoffs. I'm going to be really happy though, if that journey has Hassan Whiteside flying through the air and slamming dunks down, blocking shots left and right; instead of watching Meyers contemplate for 5 second, if he should shoot his open three. That's all I was saying. I see Whiteside as an exciting player to pick up. Now, I did hope the same when we got Uncle Festus; and we all know how that worked out.....
I basically agree with you. My personal feelings is the rule should be changed. Every team should have one player who is on their roster that can sign a 5 year deal for any amount thats negotiated, player cannot be traded, it’s counted as 25 percent of the cap. Has similar rules to the super max in terms of eligibility. Protects the player as some guys like Lebron could probably have negotiated 300M, protects the team they can demand a trade but well they cant be traded. Allows teams to pay the guy they want married too, without completely hamstringing their cap situation. This may discourage top end players from grouping up too. As guys may think hey I can go somewhere and earn my way to negotiating enough money to buy an island. The supermax can totally bite a team in the butt cap wise, and so can the regular max.
Im sure there are holes in it and ways teams could take advantage of it, that I haven't though of. It probably needs fleshed out by cba lawyers lol
You better start calling them then. Lol. It does make sense to me. I'm no expert on all that CBA stuff though....
“I didn’t have to go and play with the best players just to get it done. For me, this is the way I want to do it. And I know that if it doesn’t happen I can live with it because I know the route that I chose.”
Heh... https://www.12up.com/posts/4-times-stephen-a-smith-has-been-unbelievably-wrong-01dff23g61cm 4 Times Stephen A. Smith Has Been Unbelievably Wrong 2. Damian Lillard to the Knicks! Golden State Warriors v Portland Trail Blazers - Game Four How could we ever forget this one?!In July of 2018, Smith said: "Damian Lillard’s preference would be for the Portland Trail Blazers to find somebody, somebody big time to join him and CJ McCollum in Portland. That’s Damian Lillard’s preference. But if they can’t improve the team and if they can’t find anybody, then he’s interested in going one of two places: my sources tell me it’s the Lakers or the Knicks.” And that's all despite the fact that Dame Dolla has stated, on numerous occasions, that he loathes the idea of creating a superteam. Not to mention that he adores the city of Portland and the Trail Blazers organization, signing a supermax contract with them this offseason......
His comments on the 2006 draft seem to have been purged from the web. However, his declaring "I don't know what Portland is doing" and ranting about how bad their draft was for several minutes was definitely, and everyone recognized it at the time, wrong. Blazers selected Roy and Aldridge that draft.
