If we draft Nolan "injured" Smith over him, then most all of the teams bypassed him, too.

Besides, I continue to believe there was an agreement to let Faried slide to Denver. Everyone on this board thought we were going to take Faried when our pick came up. Then it was WTF time.

Ryan Anderson would actually fit Stotts system really well.

I guess that depends on whether you believe this past season was a one off or the beginning of the end. He’s only 31 but he’s had a lot of injuries.

Isn't he washed? Had a bump last year, but he's only 2 yrs removed from averaging less than 2ppg while getting paid 20 mil/yr

FWIW, if the numbers on shamsports are correct, the our luxury tax payment now is about 15.5 mil. With another minimum signing, it would climb to about 19 mil. So a minimum signing is essentially about 6 mil in cold hard cash for Jody.

Veteran leadership, plays in a pinch. I don't think vet min contracts figure to be regular rotation guys.

Is he better than waiting out buyout guys in Feb/March? We got 2 spots open.

You mean the 7 game season he had? Noah can still play, he was just overpaid, on a shit rebuilding franchise, and in a big market, so everything was magnified. Getting him for the minimum to be your second string center would be a great deal imo.

His rebounding, assists, blocks, and defensive metrics in Memphis all fell in line with his prime days in Chicago. Of course he wasn’t playing 35 minutes a night, but we wouldn’t be asking him to play that much either.

As for the buyout market, that comes after the deadline. Who knows who’ll be on the roster then. We went into last season with a full roster.

Exactly, we have two spots. So using one now is okay. Also vet min contracts are easy to trade.

Portland is about 13M over the tax line right now. That puts them in the $2.50/1 tax bracket with a 2M margin till it bumps to $3.25/1.

right now that's about 23-24M in tax. A vet minimum adds a shade over 1.6M and would cost a shade over 4M in tax. A second minimum would add about 4.5M in tax plus salary

If Portland still hasnt added at least one guy by August I’ll start to wonder if they’re just waiting on Gasol to get cleared.
