I think there’s a difference between a broken leg and a torn Achilles though. Once Nurks bone is healed, he’ll be good to go, as I don’t believe there was any ligament damage. KDs recovery should be more conservative.

I’ve been in business significantly less time then you...

And I know people’s words don’t mean jackshit. Put the pen to paper.

This is pretty mind boggling for me since we’re both connected to Real Estate development.

I am part of / work with the largest Real Estate developers on the West Coast.

If you wanted a verbal or handshake agreement with us — you’d get laughed off.

Then again, your deal size could be somewhat smaller than ours.

    — and then the bold —

Sounds like you learned your lesson but didn’t implement the necessary changes.

So it does seem like an idealistic perspective.

    FWIW

I’d have no issue with him reneging on his “handshake” agreement due to new, unforeseen circumstances.

Maybe it’s because is in the real estate development business — nothing is certain until the ink is dry.

(And even then you have people try and weasel their way out through certain “provisions”.)

How Will the Trail Blazers Build for the Future?

The Portland Trail Blazers will enter the 2019-20 season with a fresh rotation, shiny new players in Hassan Whiteside and Kent Bazemore, and fresh hopes of challenging in the 2020 NBA Playoffs. Their latest evolution has been greeted with optimism in most quarters. If the Blazer’s Edge Mailbag is any indication, the predictable question of how good they’ll be is going to be accompanied by two more: for how long, and what’s next? Today’s trio of questions provide a representative sample. Let’s dig in!.......

So you think I’m being overly conservative with Nurk?

I’m not entirely sure where you disagree so just asking for clarification.

But that’s precisely why I think the Nets would be stupid as hell if they rush KD back. A torn Achilles isn’t a broken leg and *no player* has been the same after an Achilles... much less after rushing them back from the Achilles injury.

I can see your point with Nurk — but I lean towards being cautious with a 7 footer who weighs that much. I also think, whether people admit it or not, there is a lot of mental issues that need to be overcome. I also don’t want Nurk pushing himself in a game before his conditioning, flexibility and mobility are superior to where they were before the injury.

Like I said — I am admittedly being overly cautious with Nurk — so I’m not hellbent on him sitting out that long, but it is just what I would do.

I now it's been reported a such, but I'm kinda confused as to what moving on from Bertans has to do with signing Morris. They traded Bertans for DeMarre Carroll in a S&T. Is it just that they would have instead used the MLE on Carroll and kept Bertans? They swapped him for Carroll, and now still have the full MLE to use elsewhere. I get being annoyed at him backing out, but the Bertans part of it seems meh to me.

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27160970/stoudemire-lot-offer-nba-teams

Amar'e Stoudemire told MSG Network on Tuesday that he can bring needed leadership to young NBA teams and still "has a lot of game left" as he attempts to return to the league.

Stoudemire, 36, appearing on MSG Network's "MSG 150," was asked what kind of pitch he is making to NBA teams.

"A lot of the teams have a lot of young players and a lot of players that can learn how to train, how to become professionals and how to become great basketball players. And leadership goes a long way with teams in order to get from a playoff team to a contending championship team," he said. "From that standpoint, I have a lot to offer. And also as a basketball player, I still have a lot of game left. I can help a team in any way they need."

    AKA - Somebody pay me

But for shits and giggles - would you want to pay Amare a veterans minimum; if only to help Collins come along in some way?

Yeah. But it’s not just you. Olshey has mentioned February but I think that’s just a conservative timeline so no one asks questions if there IS some sort of setback and/or he doesn’t return by their actual target date. I wouldn’t be surprised if he returned before the new year. It took George 8 months with an identical injury. That would put Nurk at the end of November. Yes I know Nurkic is heavier, but I doubt that’s going to add three extra months to his recovery. The fact that there was no ligament damage *should* make the recovery relatively clean.

Yes, that's precisely it. They now have very slim pickings available for their MLE which they could have simply used on Carroll. Do you see any FA's remaining that are better than a 6'10" 26-year-old who was 6th in the league in 3pt shooting last year?

it's not the same thing, and apparently, you don't realize how many transactions are handled by verbal agreements. I'm a sole-proprietor. No employees. I don't spend 40 hours a week driving around and doing paperwork so I can spend anoth 40 hours doing real work. There are plenty of times I will work for people at an hourly rate who I've worked for before and it's just a matter of doing the work and submitting a bill. Yeah, it's an honor system but it works because most people have honor.

I've had several general contractors over the years that will call me up and tell me they have a job and when can I do it. I don't go to the job prior to performing the work, draw up a bid, go to their office, submit the bid, leave, get a call, that the bid is acceptable, go back to the office with a contract, and sit around with the GC and his lawyer and my lawyer for a couple of hours working out details, and then sign the damn contract. I show up, do the job, and get paid. I did the finish carpentry for one builder on over 340 houses over 15 years and only one time, the first time, did we have a contract. Like I said, that requires a relationship that both sides can trust, but those type of relationships are a bedrock of residential construction. If you don't know that then you don't know the business. And I don't need a lecture about my 'poor' business practices

you have a pipe in your house burst during a freeze. You don't have a bunch of plumbers come out, submit bids, sort thru the bids, choose one, then sign the bid, mail it in, wait 4 days for the bid to become a contract, and then wait 2 weeks for the plumber to show, all while your busted pipe is flooding your floors. You just get a plumber in your house, PDQ, and fix the leak...then get billed pay it. And the plumbing company is working without any notarized contract, and a majority of their jobs are just like that

I'm not going to spend any more time justifying my view of Morris breaking his word to the Spurs if that's what he does. I've already done that. And one reason I'm not going to do it anymore is that I think people here justifying what Morris might be doing are full of shit. I'm saying that because if what might be happening to the Spurs was to happen to the Blazers their tunes would be different. If Portland would have traded away CJ to make room for Kawhi...AFTER Kawhi had promised to sign with the Blazers once they made room....then reneged and signed with the Lakers, there wouldn't be anybody here saying "good for Kawhi, he was looking out for himself because the Blazers weren't going to"...no, everybody would be going batshit hating on Kawhi

I think that of all hypothesized Westbrook deals, the Pistons make the most sense as a potential suitor. That is, if they actually want him...

I can’t see Russ OKing a trade to Detroit. I know he doesn’t have a no trade clause, but no way Presti sends him somewhere he doesn’t want to go.

I dunno, 2 more unprotected firsts and a couple expirings, he might not care whether Russ wants to go or not.

Along with that, I'd love to see Westbrook and Griffin together.

I remember this too. First thing I thought about when the thread entertaining him coming here. He is a dirty player. I was at that game. He did more than that. He was using those elbows alot and getting away with it.

I will be really surprised if Heat get as much in real life as any of these hypothetical deals.

Idk why Chicago is never brought up...

Porter, LaVine, and a pick for Westbrook and Roberson is a good deal.
