I would disagree as it really doesn't say much of anything other than he will not be back and that the Blazers thank him and Wheeler thanks the Blazers for the opportunity. Anything else is just pure speculation. I wouldn't read anything into it other than what it says unless further info is released some time later.

If that happened it was longer ago than the 90's. Bill had health (heart) issues in the 80's.

In the 90's, Pat was on TV for a few years and then they replaced him on tv

Dog, please give Wheels my best.

I hope he can take care of his health, that has to come first.

Sad to hear he is done. I have fond memories of listening to him call games on the radio. The golden voice will be missed.

I hope the decision to leave was mutual and the Blazers didn't just can him for the sake of change. It hurt to see Mike and Mike go. This sucks at another level.

You will be missed Brian. Get well man.

I speculate that you could argue with a pigeon.

"Thank you for the opprotunity. I look forward to returning to this opportunity next year".

How dumb does that sound? That's your argument right now. Lol.

Wheels is a beloved Blazers institution and will be sorely missed. He had the shoes to fill of replacing The Schonz, and now some ‘poor guy’ has the task of replacing him... Not going to be easy.

Remember Eddie doucette was the radio announcer right after schonz, and he was really boring. Wheeler has been great for portland...but sorry to say, those who filled on for him were terrible. I hope wheels can get healthy and return someday.

    The reason does not matter

What matters is, Wheels is the "HEART" of the Blazers.

He will be missed more than words can express.

I suspect they felt that he wasn't healthy enough to carry on, he had missed a lot of games this year, and they decided to go a different direction. I can't really blame them.

And my hope is that it's one if those two, and not because of health reasons...
