Fair enough. Do you think DJ's worth has gone down to being an MLE guy? He might have but that's a pretty quick fall. The real question is I'm not sure what those expiring's are actually worth this summer, I think they're worth more at the trade deadline, but it would be interesting to see what they can do with them.
I was typing out a response above to someone else. Last summer we didn't get Cousins because of Nurk being on the roster. Now we can be agressive and go after any type of big, not just one that fits with Nurk. Having a Whiteside or Drummond type would have been stupid with Nurk but now without him if we find a guy like those with a year left on his contract it lines up perfectly. If Nurk comes back and shows anything by the deadline we can then flip that guy if needed too.
I thought that we didn't get cousins because they had the same agent or something like that. I hope you're right. I'm wrong a lot so that's good. heh.
I just don't see them sitting around waiting for Nurk with Dame on the team. Of course I'm probably wrong but it's just a gut feeling this will lead to them pulling the trigger on something they otherwise might not have.
Well yes they had the same agent but we could only pay one of them realistically and they played the same position and couldn't play together.
You think Neil will make moves without giving regard to how they will fit with the 2nd best player on the team?
Yeah, that's the real kicker. I wasn't expecting to get out of the first round before Nurk went down. And I expected Terry to get fired for it. But now, well, he's here for another year. Another one down the drain.
If Boston doesn't offer Tatum it's still a longshot but CJ, Collins, Simons/Trent, and 2 future 1sts is a decent offer.
You didn't understand me correctly. If Nurk doesn't play next year or is on a limited minutes restriction we're going to need a center for next season. If Nurk was fully healthy we wouldn't. Lets just take Whiteside for example. He's got one year left on his contract assuming he picks up his option. Pull off a trade for him and we can just plug him in at center. If he excels and Nurk isn't ready we keep both. If Nurk is back by the trade deadline then we have a $27 million expiring contract in Whiteside to deal, plus he's got more value than Turner and Leonard.
If your point is that he’s injury prone then, yeah, maybe. If your point is that that makes him heal more slowly, I’m not buying that.
When 7 of the top 30 NBA careers that were ruined by Injury are Blazers (out of 30 teams) and then you have this Nurkic Injury to possibly be added to the list. Sadly, The Blazer Curse is real! https://uproxx.com/dimemag/the-30-best-nba-careers-ruined-by-injury/
What ever you guys do do not blame Seth or Dame or CJ or the Refs or even any player on the Nets roster for this injury. There is truly only one person that could even remotely be to blame. Charles Barkley! The dude decided to say the Blazers were going to the Finals and this team has suffered since!
Sorry about digging up an old zombie, but Sly's post about bumping zombies got me thinking about this post and how much has changed since the day after Nurk's fracture. Sometimes it's worth digging up old threads just to see how drastically things have changed, and to kind of remind yourself that when things get dark they won't always be that way. It really is true that the only sure thing in life is change. I generally think of myself as an optimistic person. I wasn't that day.
Look at you. First S2 poster in history to admit where he might have been wrong, FAMS! Congrats! #respect
