She's a hottie (even in green). :devilwink:

    I wouldn't mind seeing her as She-Hulk.

Well, couldn't anyone have played the lead in that movie, since her character was mostly CGI? Right? So a bigger issue is maybe BLUE people are where the money is made.

Well, you're citing movies that had made up characters that were dressed up in a different, non human, skin color.

Not taking away from her acting skills, etc, but those movies weren't big because of her.

Female leads aren't the problem. There have been plenty of female leads that did well.... hell, that new Wonder Woman did pretty well I think. But when you have a popular fictional hero and you cast them way outside of the norm, you're risking the success of the movie.

    1. If straight, white males are such pieces of shit why does everyone else so desperately want to impersonate/imitate/remake them? Are they lacking creativity, imagination, intelligence, originality? Are they just lazy and dishonest, trying to ride the coattails of a proven winner? Or are they consumed by self-loathing? :dunno:

    2. I nominate Kevin Bacon.

So my feeling (as a white guy) is that the problem isnt that there are white male characters. Its that Minorities, are under represented and often times (stereo)typed casted, and mischaracterized and put in the roles that end up making it looks like systematic racism is alive and kicking.

It feels odd to change a character from whatever they were supposed to be into anything else. I sure as heck dont want to see a Black Panther movie staring Ryan Reynolds. 007 AFAIK was supposed to be a male (part of his character), British spy, I was in support of Elba doing it. So it seems strange to me if they’re trying to write that into a Black Female character.

Really in my opinion, what the goal should be is to write more good original characters that arent white dudes!

Really the movie could still be good or great, but I think what my problem is, is this type of move is more about using minorities than it is meant to help them. The hype around this will be all about wow (007) James Bond is a Black woman now. When I would rather we just had amazing new original characters written for all genders and skin tones.

My idea is to make a Perfect Dark movie, my generation would absolutely watch that, it was the female version of James Bond originally (literally built on the engine of Goldeneye), and has a good story with a strong female lead.

Featuring Channing Tatum as Richard Harder the sexualized bad guy?

Maybe I’ll field an argument about a female James Bond being okay, but now what are we gonna do with the pussy galore’s and Ivana Humpalot’s?!?

Even I think this is lame. There are better/fine ways to incorporate women, minorities into new/better positions without just having them play a character that has been the same for decades. It’s just strange.

This is such a slippery slope. I mean what's next? Pretty soon people will think it's ok for 007 to be played by a farm animal.

Nobody wants to hear a sheep say "Baaaaand, James Baaaaand".

    ITS NOT OK!

Daniel Craig is the second best James Bond ever. Sean Connery was so good that he'll never be equaled.

I liked the concept of that movie that was about what might happen if Superman wasn't good or something. I saw a preview for it at a movie recently (and I admit that I'm not giving a great description of the movies plot).

I'm fine with alternative points of view (oooh, pov....brb). A Bond type movie starring a black woman, chinese woman, muslim woman, jewish woman, gay woman, straight woman, whatever variety of woman you want, is fine with me. If it was possible I think a movie with a WOC (or just a woman period) as the co-star with the James Bond character, could lead to something cool.

I.e., Black Panther was a cool movie, it could stand on it's own. But if Marvel had decided randomly to change Tony Stark into to Antoine Stark, or Antoinette Stark, it takes away from what a new character could be and create drama for the sake of drama.

But mostly, it depends on the writing. If it's good writing, I don't care who is the person who is playing the main role. Be it James Bond or Jane Bond or Malcolm Nance.
