    50 years ago this month.

OK, well, I'm old enough to remember the event.....hoax or not. LOL

PS: Some people still get their collective panties in a wad over Armstrong inadvertently missing that "a" as he stepped off Eagle. (see bolded, below.) Ahh, well.......

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_11

Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin, both American, landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969, at 20:17 UTC. Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface six hours later on July 21 at 02:56:15 UTC; Aldrin joined him 19 minutes later. They spent about two and a quarter hours together outside the spacecraft, and collected 47.5 pounds (21.5 kg) of lunar material to bring back to Earth. Command module pilot Michael Collins flew the command module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while they were on the Moon's surface. Armstrong and Aldrin spent 21.5 hours on the lunar surface at a site they named Tranquility Base before rejoining Columbia in lunar orbit.

Apollo 11 was launched by a Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida, on July 16 at 13:32 UTC, and was the fifth crewed mission of NASA's Apollo program. The Apollo spacecraft had three parts: a command module (CM) with a cabin for the three astronauts, and the only part that returned to Earth; a service module (SM), which supported the command module with propulsion, electrical power, oxygen, and water; and a lunar module (LM) that had two stages – a descent stage for landing on the Moon, and an ascent stage to place the astronauts back into lunar orbit.

After being sent to the Moon by the Saturn V's third stage, the astronauts separated the spacecraft from it and traveled for three days until they entered lunar orbit. Armstrong and Aldrin then moved into Eagle and landed in the Sea of Tranquillity. The astronauts used Eagle's ascent stage to lift off from the lunar surface and rejoin Collins in the command module. They jettisoned Eagle before they performed the maneuvers that propelled the ship out of the last of its 30 lunar orbits on a trajectory back to Earth.[4] They returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24 after more than eight days in space.

Armstrong's first step onto the lunar surface was broadcast on live TV to a worldwide audience. He described the event as "one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."[8][9] Apollo 11 effectively ended the Space Race and fulfilled a national goal proposed in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy: "before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth."[10]

It hasn't actually been 50 years. That's just what they want you to believe.

"Women could do these jobs": Meet the trail blazers behind the historic Apollo 11 launch

Tuesday marks 50 years since three men in space suits set off on the greatest scientific adventure of all-time. As the astronauts of Apollo 11 headed to the moon, the women of NASA were blazing new trails on Earth.

Poppy Northcutt, Joann Morgan and Margaret Hamilton were trail blazers, "hidden figures" critical to the success of the Apollo 11 mission. Morgan said it was life-changing.

"What it said to me and what meant so much to me is, 'Hey, I am really now part of this team,'" she said.

She was accepted in a profession not used to women.......

Two years later, five people from the IBM Houston "Moon Shot" team move to Portland and joined me at Consolidated Freightways, where we built the First fully recoverable
Data Base system for the Transportation Industry. After we made the system a Program Product for the rest of the world, IBM used that product and one of our Beta test sites, East Texas MotorFreight, into a Five minute ad for IBM. It was the First time when one of the major broadcaster ran the ad, once during the Presentation of the Man from Lamancha, that IBM had every advertised on TV. About 44 years ago now! I was quite pleased watching that program with my kids. Them, not so much.

Nope. They only succeeded to survive about 20 some more years.
Actually they were pretty tricky about it. Spun off a new company, and left the old assets attached to the old. Like Freight terminals all over North American, heavily taxed but essentially worthless parcels of land or old docks compared to the tax bill on them. Realized all the losses possible on all theses assets, then took the CF corporation through
Bankruptcy while holding all the retirement pension liability. The new company came through clean. hardly encumbered. Quite a few counties now own old CF freight terminals
or docks. They probably have no idea how that happened. nor do they know what the hell to do with them. There is one up and ally in Coos Bay, just a derelict dock now, probably
still keeping the rain off a rats nest or two, but no other action. Oak Harbor was renting it from the City for awhile but no more. They deliver to UPS now for the few shipment they still haul into town. It is sort of funny to observe this sort of thing. I can't quite figure out how the City got stuck with it though, it should have reverted to the county for unpaid taxes. Unless the City did something really stupid.

But they did manage to sprinkle around some old docks that are about as worthless as a dock on the moon!

Lol, i saw a news clip where this asshole was harassing Aldren and telling him he needs to swear on a bible he walked on the moon and Aldren was trying to avoid and ignore him, but then the guy started getting real agressive and calling him a fake and a liar. Buzz Aldren proceded to punch him in the head. I applauded.

30+ years ago, my best friend and I are enjoying our drunken stupor together in a bar in the Philippines. We decide to leave, and hit some other bars. On the way out, Jeff yells; "HEY! Any of you ever see the dark side of the moon???" ~Dead silence from all of the Filipino chicks~. They don't know what the hell he is yelling about.

He then procedes to drop his drawers, and moon the whole place. They get SUPER PISSED, and start throwing beer bottles at us, as we both run out the door, laughing our asses off.

Jeff always has been way better than me at delivering a joke. Jeff also happens to be black.......

Lol. TRUE. STORY. And I will have that flash through my mind, on my death bed.... That's a top ten, most hilarious thing that's ever happened in my life. For sure.

Good thing he never asked them if they've ever seen the black hole.
